Meta M357T V2 alarm 'problem'

Hi all,

Im having a bit or a gripe with my alarm. It keeps going off on its own now the winter wind is making itself known and i cant see anything in the instructions about the location or existence of the movement sensor switch to turn the movement sensitivity down slightly, any help would be great.

I had this problem with my Meta M357T V2 alarm as well. It only happened in quite windy conditions, not all the time. Don't forget it is possible to arm the alarm without the movement sensor on, you just have to press and hold the button on the keyfob to arm the alarm, whilst keeping it pressed for a few more seconds and the bike will give you an extra bleep to confirm that the movement sensor is switched off and your alarm armed.

Anyway it is possible to adjust the movement sensor of the alarm but just how easy it is depends on how good the fitter was. In the alarm wiring loom there is an extra wire with a purple tracer on it. This is the wire you need to find to be able to adjust the sensitivity. A good fitter will have left it taped up near to the battery, a not so good fitter won't have cared what he did with it and is probably taped up in the loom somewhere. You need to find this wire and then you can make some adjustments.

Once you have located this wire you need to put a ring terminal on the end of the wire and then you need to connect it to the battery to make the alarm adjust itself. This is where my memory becomes a bit hazy but if I remember right, if you connect it to the positive battery terminal and leave it on it will make you alarm go more sensitive. If you connect it to the negative terminal and leave it on it will make your alarm less sensitive. If you leave it disconnected it sets your alarm in the 'middle' sensitivity position. I know it sounds a bit far fetched but trust me it works. These are the instructions I followed from the guy who fitted my alarm when I needed to turn down the sensitivity.

How long has the alarm been fitted to your bike? If it is fairly new then take it back to the people who fitted it and get them to do it. If it was a while ago and you know who fitted it ring them up and ask them for advice. Good luck with it and I hope that you are successful.

Thanks mate, didnt think id get an answer to this one so quickly . its a used bike 52 reg so the alarm was fitted ages ago. might try ringing up the guys that fitted it as iv still got the number. Iv seen in the instructions about arming the alarm without the movement sensor but if the movement sensor is off how does the alarm sense any twat trying to thief the bike, surely it would have to have a proximity sensor of some kind?

If you arm the alarm with the movement sensor off then I am fairly sure someone can wheel your bike away without the alarm going off. It will only activate the alarm if either a: it is hotwired/ignition is switched on or b: if the seat is removed that has the contact switch underneath it.

So on reflection the movement sensor is probably the most important one of the lot. The best bet is to get it sorted then you should have no more problems. At least if you know how to alarm it without the movement sensor, should you ever need to leave somewhere in blustery conditions, then you can do it without worrying about the alarm sounding every two minutes.
