hidey hi people
it's an idea i'v been toying with for a while now.
i quite like the idea of getting one of those mini moto's, tuning it up, and getting involved with the track day scene for em.
i know doing track days would be a far grander experience on a full size bike, but i would quite like to give it a shot with these.
they're damned cheap to get and do up in comparison, so why not?

anyone know anything about this sort of malarkey? or is involved in it already?

www.minimotoclub.com is very good, lots of info on there and details of where you can ride.

In short don't go for the cheapo bikes cos they are slow and they will break. Tuning it up? Nah, just get one that's half decent to start with.

im 17 btw

tuneing one well if you get a cag with i got mine for £130 well not really any point in tuning it you mite as well spend the money on a better mini moto

i advise you to go to www.armbell.com/mmcr

its forum which we will be setting up meetings trackdays

and soon have a team with team fairings Very Happy so check it out there

if you want anymore help just pm me or speak top me on www.armbell.com/mmcr

or email me [email protected] Very Happy happy helping a mini moto guy

cheers for that mate, dead helpful.
there's a nice looking meet coming up in lydd which is only about an hour away from me this saturday. the only problem is i'm 'kin working Evil or Very Mad otherwise i'd go.
was considering getting one of those chinese air cooled ones, as there's parts, tuning stuff easily bought for them. but am now considering a more expensive water cooled one.

either this
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Mini-Moto-Minimoto-MK3-LUCKY-7-VALENTINO-ROSSI-CAMEL-46_W0QQitemZ140005564290QQihZ004QQcategoryZ75220QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
which i may get anyway as a cheep option to make sure i don't spend loads then decide the sport's not for me.

or this one
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WATER-LIQUID-COOLED-MINIMOTO-MINI-MOTO_W0QQitemZ270006453021QQihZ017QQcategoryZ75220QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

then move up the scale to a more expensive race one as interest and wallet see fit.

you know of the pro's and cons for water or air cooled?

Shocked jeez, they're pretty 'spensive for the full on ones.
quite like the look of the polini's, they start out at "not too bad" prices aswell.

will probably start out with a cheaper one to make sure it is something i'd wanna do.

something else i'd like to try out aswell, there's a lot of kart places that do mini moto evenings aswell.
know anywhere in the south east that does them?

I have a CAG (cheapy Chinese) and mate (Oli if nick's reading) has a Polini 4.2, and there's a world of difference! He paid about £300 second hand on ebay, its recommeded.

Suzuki-Rizla, I'm on your forum, same username and also on mmcw as Matt. Nick is on here as well.

You'd be better off buying a 2ndhand race outfit actually at a Minimoto Race Meet...

Check out www.mmra.org.uk for British Minimoto Championship dates - there are usually loads of proper race-level machines up for sale there, ready to race, including race-level sidecars (radically different to the heaps o' crap you see on eBay)

Cheap Chinese bikes (CAGs) are accomodated within the 4.2 class at MMRA Rounds, so you can turn up on a cheapy and give it a whirl then look to upgrade later...

MMRA = Minimoto Racing Association of Great Britain, of which I'm a committee member.

go to hullavington, speak to julian and ask about buying one of the 4.2's they use, it's the same as the hire bike so you can try it before you buy.
