I haven't felt like changing, sometimes I’ve had to.
If I like a bike that much I wouldn't change it, but I know what you mean.
Be careful in your choice because the CBR is a good bike.

I can understand the feeling of wanting a change, I've gone through 7 bikes in 5 years! Guess the first thing is to ask if the CBR600RR was your first 'bike bike' after doing DAS? If it is then by jumping on 'such a good bike' it'll be difficult to top is easily. If it's not the case, and you've had a few bikes, then you might already have an idea of what to try next.

It'd be worth taking a few bikes on a test ride, for as long as possible. Other 600's like the Ninja have a completely different feel to them (try a ZX6R B1H if you get the chance!), maybe a 750 or 1000cc is in order, of even a something different like a naked bike (heaven forbid! Razz ). At the very least you'll get to go back to the CBR thinking 'nothing else is coming close, yet!'

The only thing I'd recommend is that, if you do change, spend as much on the new bike as your CBR is worth. That way, if you do want to go back again, you'll have the cash in your new bike. Get a cheaper one and you might not be able to afford to go back.

Cheers

No mate I've had afew bikes, last few BMW F650, CB600F to the CBR6.

I've rode alot of bike over the years from a Piggio ZIP SP(the smashed up BMF enduro veteran) through to R1's, CBR1000RR's.

I just dunno what I want, just feel like a change.

I probably wont be able to afford a upgrade in terms of power though.

Hell I might just need to change something on the RR, just getting fed up of it being the same.

Perhaps get another bike if at all possible.

A Bonneville for cruisng and the cbr for a thrashing toy. Or an off-roader for green laning etc

There is quite a lot about it on the CBR forum.

www.cbr-forum.org.uk

Apparently makes the bike a bit more lively in its midrange, stick with the cbr and maybe even get a cheap project bike to keep you busty when your not on the RR

Keep the RR, you know for a fact that you'll miss it immediately if you get rid of it.

why don't you invest in a el cheapo mud plugger, something to chuck about on the weekends in the woods when it starts to get a bit colder and wetter.

Definitely change the gearing.

Your speedo will be out anyway, just need to make sure you know which way it's out Smile.

A lot of CBR6 owners do seem to keep their bikes for long periods, not sure if it's the bike, or that the people who choose it over, say, an r6, are less likely to be the type wanting something 'more' quicker.
[edit]Mostly people on the older bikes though, not the new RRs[/edit]

Ever done any off roading?
If you know any mates with off road bikes, could be worth having a play in a field.
Done any trackdays? - might find that's another avenue of 'fun' to persue.

I've done the Ron Haslem Race School afew time, and We have done the BMF moped enduro(which is the biggest laugh, everyone should do it at least once Cool ).
I'd like to try offroading properly, but I don't know anyone who does it.

But yeah, I think im just doing the same old thing on the bike all the time maybe the odd trackday and pehaps some minor tweaks to the bike.

Practically the same bike as the RR just more unreliable and uglier, if you want a change, dont get another inline 4, do for a complete change.
Try a V-twin they are hard to get used to from riding an inline, but when you do they are great.

my reccomendations would be

2004-> Aprilia RSVR
Honda SP1
A Ducati

My personal choice for usability would be the RSVR, or if a v-twin dosent tickle your fancy try a K6 GSXR the 750 model.
Now that puts a kwak down the toilet, and flushes it.

Where does this hatred of Kawasakis stem from dude? Is it based on the ZXR400?

The Ninja is a completely different beast to the 600RR, i have ridden both and found the 636 to be a more visceral experience. It has noticeably more power in the midrange, and it sounds awesome. They are both great bikes but personally i went for the Kawasaki and have had no problems so far (7k in 4 months) I think it will be an easy transition and i think they are both as bloody uncomfortable as eachother Razz

The GSXR-750 is an awesome machine i`m sure, but then there isnt an equivalent kawasaki made anymore, and you cant compare the 636 to it.

Personally if money were no object and i was staying around the 600 class, i would take the Daytona 675, it blows all the other 600's and V-Twin 750's out of the water. (imho)

The 675 is a good bike, but not that good,
Aprilia RSVR's are now cheap ( new shape models) and i can safely say these are an awsome bike for your money,
I wouldnt stay in the 600 class, i personally could never get a 600 again they just feel slow now.

5-6 grand will get you a good bike, you can even get brand new RSVRs (2004 models) for £6200!!!

Might feel slower than a 749 mate but they arn't all the 600's own the 749's!, must be the torque you like.
Ducati's are really nice looking bikes, oh and the noise........ Cool .

Im thinking now aobut maybe changing the gearing and hanigng on to the RR, give that a try see if it changes things any, would work out cheaper than swapping.
But I agree Wave the RSV's are bloody nice!!, and unreal how cheap they are now with all the olhins etc.

Yea i like the torque, and it makes more power than most 600s, but then again mines the S model running a full Termignoni system. should be about 110 or more at the wheel.
