Pop up or genuine?

Ive just this second formatted my pc. Yet again. Ive also paid the Extra £7 per month to upgrade to a 4mb Line + PC Guard complete package.

This includes Virus alert, anti spyware. Everything.

and im still getting these 2 windows pop up at every restart and every sort of 10 - 15 minutes.

Just wondered if there is any way to find out of they are legit or if they are just popups trying to sell me shit.

If so, how do I stop them. They are well annoying. Laughing

Go to Control Panel and then Administrative Tools. Then double click services and scroll down until you see messenger in the list Disable that and stop it - that's what they use to pop up the pop ups. It's nothing to do with MSN Messenger either.

And just one last thing.

"Windows service pack 2" keeps notifying me to install as it will be out of date in october.

I updated that last night, and then my entire PC went tits up. couldnt even connect to the internet.
Hence the reason I formatted this morning.

Anyway, Any way of geting rid of it from the quick launch down on my start menu.

looks as if you dont have SP2 installed

need to install it as SP1 is being stopped in October.

Well Just installed it and all is running good now. I was just afraid to install it because I tried last night and It lead to me having to run another system recovery this morning because I had no internet.

Everything seems ok now, Im only running the one PC guard too. which had everything I need.
Just upgraded to a 4mb line too...

is that good? Thinking

Turn you firewall on even if its the windows one.

Im running the Blueyonder PCguard.
Its an extra 7£ a month for...

Anti Virus
Firewall
Anti Spyware
ID Theft Protection
Parent control (SWITCHED OFF)
Pop Up Blocker
Privacy manager

and of course, the Upgraded 4mb line.

saves me running seperates, which means the PC is faster.

windows firewall is also running. but its on low becuse it stops EVERYTHING. lol. Wont even allow Webcam on msn. Confused

It's not a good idea to have two firewalls enabled so the Windows one should be disabled as they may conflict with each other.

The Firewall was free. The £7 was for the 4mb line. I pay £37 a month for The Good TV package, Phone with free offpeak calls, and 4mb Unlimited internet.
