LCD Tv or Monitor with tuner?

Following on from this

The reason is that I wanted to buy a flatscreen monitor anyway, but it would save even more space on my uni desk if it was a TV as well.

Would you get say one of these:

19" TFT with tuner

or one of these from ebay:

15" LCD TV with dvi input

I would buy a proper monitor if you need it for PC work (perhaps not the one you show though). Normally both are optimised for their job. i.e. watching TV or PC use.

Hence if it's a display for your college PC, then get the LCD PC monitor and use a TV card on it. Thumbs Up

The thing is I am looking for a space saving alternative to having a 17" CRT plus a 14" CRT TV on my desk.

Go for the LCD monitor and TV card (that's wot I use - but 19" crt)

Another vote for a dedicated monitor and a TV card here. You'll then be able to do some basic timeshifting/recording too.

You can get the philips lcd tv from here https://www.electrical-deals.co.uk/ServiceCareSite/product/LCD&PlasmaTV/15PF4110.htm £189 + postage. (not sure how much the p+p is).

I had a couple of these on my bench a couple of weeks ago and to be honest the picture quality's pretty crap tho. not a patch on a normal crt telly.

TV's tend to have crap resolution whereas monitor's don't.
