Hi All.

Its been so long, I have almost forgot how to use the internet.

The time has now (Finally) come to pick up my stuff, and move out.

Me, my (Now) Fiance, and the boy are moving into a cosy 2 bed terrace in the next 1-2 weeks.

I was just wondering if anyone can offer any advice, or recommend any good providers of the usual things (Electric/Gas/Phone/etc).

Thanks in advance.

Hi

With gas / lecky, try and get both from the same provider as you will get a discount for dual fuels. Have a hunt round and see which is the cheapest for you (and check when they last increased their prices as you don't want to choose one who is cheapest purely because they are slightly slower to put their prices through the roof).

All the best

Keith

That's fantastic news - CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Dance!

Not a lot of help with providers - sorry!

With your telephone line you are likely to be paying rental to BT anyway, so you may as well stay with them and use the phones in a minimalist fasion Wink

Do not use British gas for anything. I had to threaten them with legal action a couple of weeks ago due to their inept staff.

To compare utility/phone, etc supplier rates in your area, have a look at www.uswitch.com

Hope that helps. Smile

Well, this is my final night before I move. Got the phone with NTL, and will be getting gas and electric with Scottish Power tomorrow.

Got all of the furniture and appliances sorted, fridge freezer is the final bit which is coming in the morning.

Im getting all excited now, im like a kid at christmas.

I wont be online for a while now (not that im on much now). Wont be getting the internet til' we can afford to get a decent computator.

Hi Ash, congratulations on the move! Where abouts are you moving to?

Here is my advice on providers (sorry it's a bit late but maybe food for thought for the future):

Telephone - Onetel are good. I pay around £9 a month for everything (line rental and calls). They are the cheapest I've known and piss on BT in so many ways.

Internet - I'd reccommend Pipex. They do various deals but I pay £17.99 a month and their service is second to none.

Gas/Electricity - Think you'll be alright with SP from what I've heard. Like others have said, don't use British Gas as they are shockingly shite and expensive. I'm with them at the moment, currently paying £80 a month for both which is double what my folks pay in their massive detached house. (I'm in the market for a new supplier).

Hope that helps Thumbs Up

You need to know the number of units you are using, as consumption and house size are rather unrelated (insulation makes a massive difference), and also make sure you give a customers own reading pretty much every time they send out an estimated bill.

All the best
