Had a car accident this weekend - Need advice...

Basically, on a 3 lane carriageway heading towards Southport (Queens Drive West Derby if anyone knows it)

We (Me and my GF) were in the middle lane, left lane was clear, right lane was full of traffic but going at speed, our lane was absolutely chocka, moving at about 15 MPH.

There was a junction to our left, and as we were level with it a car pulled out at about 10-15 mph and headed STRAIGHT TOWARDS us.

I'm pretty sure his intention was to hit us, as he didn't stop.

We swerved right to avoid the impact, and ended up going into the back of a Landrover.

Only problem is is that the driver that made us crash in the first place didn't stop, and just drove round the back of us afterwards and turned right onto the carriageway flowing in the other direction.

Is there anything we can do? We can't remember the full VRM of the driver (I'm going back just incase he lives down that junction to get the full one)

But my gf's going to have to pay for all of this on her fully comp insurance, it's her first few months of driving and I really want to do something to help.

Assume you've reported the accident to the police already?

Any insurance claim should go to the Motor Insurers' Bureau rather than your GF needing to claim against her own insurance.

You did all that to the Yaris, and only cracked his brake light? I need a Land Rover!

Bad luck though Toby, I'd say try and get some CCTV evidence, though if they didn't stop there's a good chance they're not insured anyway.

it wasn't even a 5mph impact i don't think. She'd just about finished hauling the car up and it looked almost stopped when I saw the bonnet pop up and thought "Oh my shit"

Have you been to A+E to log your neck pain?? You could probably claim off her insurance, it would make little difference to her furture insurance and you could split the cash with her. I'm sure some bits of you are a little bit stiff from the crash ? You dont need to lie, just ensure any aches, pains and discomforts are recorded now.

If a claim is going through, get your personal injury claim in - your neck pain, situtational awareness syndrome etc will get you 2k+. Fuck the morals, its free money, and won't make much difference to her future insurance.

It will affect her insurance - any claim will load your insurance premium, even if it isn't your fault.

You can do that through A + E, I did it through my physio then saw the insurance doctor 6 months after the crash.

Oh well, at least she's got a Yaris 1.3 '06 as a courtesy car!
