NSR de restricted

Well I finally done it , and I've got to say I'm quite surprised at how much of a difference it actually makes

Instructions from www.nsr125.com are first class, credit where it's due and all that. Even for a man with my dubious mechanical abilities it was pretty straight forward. Although that bloody exhaust restrictor was an arse to get out.

lol yeah the exhaust restrictor is a right bastard to get out. Took me ages using long nose pliars to keep changing it's shape slightly till it would fit down the pipe and drop out!

I had to nip out to B&Q to buy a round file. I was filing away for an age, I snapped the thing I was filing so hard and my arm was killing me.

What I wouldn't do for an electric arm.

just started doing this myself, exhaust is off but cant get the restrictor out, gotta nip down b&q myself now to go get that damn file!!! next will be the intake restricotr, just how much difference have u noticed now yours is fully derestricted?

Listen mate, dont get the B&Q file it snapped after about a minute, seriously.

It makes such a difference, you'll be surprised. It's like a different bike.

man, im so screwing!! got the bike fully derestricted, but cant ride it now 4 two reasons... 1) gota get a new chain (quoted £80!) and 2) got a hole in the exhaust just before the expansion chamber that needs welding, its not fair!!!! just out of interest, how much bhp does a restricted nsr have and what bhp does a de-restricted have??

Nick's NSR is running at 27bhp. That's derestricted, race exhaust, bigger rear sprocket and loads of other stuff. I'm not sure of the standard bhp, sorry.

I think they're about 24bhp stock derestriced.

Did you manage to drill right through the exhaust when removing the restrictor?

no i had a hole there before but just thought it was a hole in the heat shield, but it clearly werent when i took it 4 a spiin, sounds like a moto gp bike, proper, proper loud! goes nowhere though

you will notice loads of difference with a de-restricted exhaust, but bugger all difference with a de-restricted intake. Maybe its just something wrong with my bike?

Do dynojet do kits for 125cc strokers i looked for them before and assumed they never made them as i couldnt find them anywhere

if they do where do they sell them??

Hi

Don't think dynojet do anything for small 2 strokes.

By the way, the NSR uses a Dellorto carb and they will happily supply lots of alternative jet.

Hey guys, had my NSR for bout month now and already feel it lagging in power (stock bike). I've read the derestriction guide on NSR125.com and unsure wether to attempt it myself. Wot you guys reckon? is it as straight forward as they say

Also, would it make a difference if i only removed the exhaust restrictor? I'm just wary of dismantling a nearly new machine, and it not running right (or at all!!!) after i put all the screws back in!

Any advice much appreciated.

Yes it is as simple as made out Just make sure you allow plenty of time as the exhaust restrictor is a bit of a bitch

Removing the exhaust one on its own is probably a bit pointless, as that one will take hours, and the intake one takes a matter of minutes

Putting it back together is easy, just make sure you put any screws or anything you take out into a bag or something so you dont lose them

Now I'm just gonna set myself a whole day for this bloody zaust rerstrictor!!! Cant wait to see if it hits a ton after derestriction!!!

Fingers crossed it all go's well. I'll keep y'all posted and let you know how much of a difference. Bike does bout 85mph at the mo.

P.S Any guys on here from Central Scotland area??? I looking for someone to ride with.

Hello guys,

I'm new to this forum; bought a NSR125 recently and will be derestricting it once I pass my full test. I was wondering whether rejetting is necessary after the inlet and exhaust restrictors are removed. It's not mentioned in nsr125.com, but I keep hearing mention of adjusting the jetting. Is it necessary and, is it easy enough for a non-mechanically mind like mine?
