I,m currently with motorcycle direct and still have a policy runing for the thunderace till october so l though l could get a new bike and change the bike on the policy like l,ve done many times before with them only problem is because i,m looking into getting a 954 honda fireblade they have suddenly decieded that l,m too young to own a 1000cc superbike even though l have a current policy with a 145bhp YZF1000R on it Rolling Eyes

Not much of a problem me thinks, l,ll just wait till the policy runs out and l,ll have 4 years NCB to use else were. Only problem is all the insurance companys l,ve rang today (will try yours in the morring dave) have refused on the grounds of "We don,t insure that sort of bike" or "you have to be over 22/25 for that sort of bike".

Seems like Fireblades and SP1/SP2,s are black listed for young ones. Evil or Very Mad

Yup the policy I had my 125 on would not switch as their min requirements were that I had to have a 600 for 2 years before they would insure me so i had to cancel the policy.
I only lost a month NCB so it wasnt too bad but they charged me a cancellation fee of £25, gits. I told them it was unfair as I didn't want to cancel my policy but due to their rules I had to, still I have a nice new bike and Churchill can go fuck themselves in the future! Twisted Evil

thought id post as i too am insured with motorcycles direct.....tried shopping around but they seemed the cheapest for my cagiva mito. realised i didnt need my brother on my policy and rang up to remove him (money back please) only to be told it would cost £15 to alter the policy and the policy price wouldnt change....lesson learnt, i wont be insuring through a so called 'intemediary' as im actually insured with axa who apparently charge one price regardless of whether only me or half my family are on the policy. Oh and the 'refund within 14 days' is bull too as you lose 10% due to the small print.

I think ill go with bennets with my next bike.

In that case, tell motorcycle direct to refund the money they have defrauded from you.

you may need to Mid Term Transfer, different insurers have different criteria. Like a honda C90 will be cheaper to insure than a DNA 50. Its odd. Call Endsleigh on 01892 515 555. Ask to speak to Jack and i'll call you back. (shameless plug)

Interesting isn't it. Rolling Eyes
If a new law was passed saying you may not ride such a bike until 25 or whatever it would seem outrageous - but this policy seems to be effectively the same result.

I've yet to swap the insurance from the gpz to the zxr so i hope they don't try any funny business with me.

Blades have always had a bit of an unfair rep for being a nutters bike and insurance co's don't listen to common sense, just statistics. I guess it's like the bike equivelent of Cosworths
