Right, about 4 weeks ago I started to get pretty bad headaches, like a pressure in-between my temple like my head was in a vice.

Doctor said I had tension headaches even tho I had no real reason to be suffering from them. They came and went but now they are quite severe...

I've booked an eye test for today to see if thats the cause. From thursday last week I've had a constant headache morning to night and I've still got it just now.

Surley my eyes can't cause this??? Just looking to see if anyone else has suffered this and if glasses have cured the sore heads?

I work with a computer 6+ hours everyday and have done for a few years now....

I'm at my wits end and it feels like my head is about to explode, doctors are also bloody useless....

If you are finding this hard to read and the text appears a little small then you may need glasses

VDU's are notorious for putting a strain on the old eyeballs and causing headaches. I get them when I'm tired and I have had my contacts in for too long, change to glasses and bobs your uncle the headaches starts to ease after a while.

I would get this checked out asap mate, i had a friend a few years who got headaches over christmas.

She went to the doc's told him she had headaches, he gave her tablets told her to come back in few weeks.

A week or so later she collapsed, they took her to antrim hospital were they realised she had a brain tumour and they didn't have the equipment to help her in antrim so they sent her to city hospital in belfast.

On the way to belfast she had i think 4 heart attacks in the ambulance, she was dead on arrival.

Shirley was 32.

As i said mate go get this checked out i don't want to scare you but its better to be safe than sorry.

If you have a problem with your eyes it can cause headaches.

It can cause headaches , but then to minimise it I remember being told not to have heavily curved glasses and to have flatish glass instead,

Thumbs Up

My first prescription for contact lenses was too strong in my left eye (only by 0.25) but this gave me awful headaches, almost migrane like. Since having had it corrected I have had no problems - so yes you are right to see the optician.

Make sure you tell them about your headaches, they may look at your eyes in a different way.

Also, spending all day in front of a computer isn't good for your eyes, so make sure you look away regularly and focus on something in the distance, rather than looking away to read something.

Could also be the way you sit while at the PC. I have an awful habit of slouching and that gives me tension headaches.

If you don't need glasses then get a nice massage Mr. Green

I suffer from migraines and tension headaches and it nearly always comes down to my eyes, so i would def recommend getting them checked.

The other things is muscle tension, so a massage can often help, specially if you're sitting at a desk all day in front of a PC.

O, and don't forget that if you work in front of a PC, you can claim your eye test money back from your employer. https://www.unison.org.uk/safety/doc_view.asp?did=164

Spiral, thanks for putting the shitters right up me!!!!

Been to the doctors 3 times now regarding them and thats them finally saying get an eye test, my left eye is out by 0.25 and I also had a crash about 3/4 weeks ago which I could still be feeling the effects of....

Apparantly if its something to do with your brain, you usually have a dis-function elsewhere or your not quite as strong in your legs or arms.....

Head is pounding, off the computer a while till my glasses arrive... Sad

I suffered from terrible headaches. So bad that I couldn't move or it hurt. I'd be in bed for hours nearly in tears with the pain. It affected me so badly that when I read, words meant nothing and when I spoke the words came out in the wrong order! Confused Don't think I've had one since I started to wear glasses nearly 5 years ago.

I had similar severe headache symptoms some years back. It got to the point that I was spending nearly every evening after work in a darkened room...
Eventually got my eyes tested, and was found to have eye strain due to working on detailed building plans (working as a draughtman at the time) as well as long hours using a PC.
I got some glasses thru a company scheme, and once I'd got used to them, the headaches quickly eased, and everything was fine again.

HTH Thumbs Up

try it, if im wrong it wont have done you any harm

if im right, it could be the cure you seek

when I was in year 6 at junior school I had the exact same headaches - ever since I've had to wear glasses,

I can't not wear them... I get really bad headaches that evolve into migraines if I don't

They hurt so much I carry a spare pair of glasses with me incase mine should breka when I'm out and about.

It sucks but glasses are x100 better than those headaches.

plus if you've got the cash you can have contact lenses - or even the funky coloured ones

^^^ How bad where the headaches you where suffering??

Is it like a constant pressure across the temple and sometime in your jaw? Dizzy spells when the headache gets really bad?
Was it constant from first thing in the morning (like 10-20 mins after you've woke you start to feel it build)???

I'm at my wits end, my left eye is only out 0.25 thats why I feel it surely can't just be my eye can it??

my headaches got worse and turned into migranes, was pain in my eyes and behind them, in my forehead etc. felt sick with the pain, never was actually sick though (but that funny feeling in your mouth)

I have tablets from the doctor for them, that dissolve on your tongue and tissapate the pain. as If I get a headache from not wearing my glasses (eye strain) it will still last a day or two if I'm too slow to realize I haven't put my glasses on in the morning.
