I wasn't sure whether or not this should be here or in General chat but it seems quite a newbie question so I'm putting it here!

What is the rough kind of MPG for 600 bikes such as the Ninja, GSXR, R6? Whenever I look at brochures/online specifications I can never seem to find this info Confused

yep this is very true...which is why bike sales have jumped so much since the petrol price rise, an average bike can get roughly 50kilometres out of a tank as opposed to a standard car which can average anywhere to 10-15 kilometres

Hence my question Confused Soon I'll be buying a car and I was aware bikes (even Supersports) tend to have quite a good MPG compared to most cars. There aren't many cars that do about 35/40 MPG like some really nice bikes will.

I don't know about you but I'd rather be on a Ninja 600 than a Smart Car Laughing Seeing as I'm buying my first vehicle very soon, petrol price will probably be an issue

Seems to me that basic commuter bikes (GS500s and other twins) deliver much better mpg than the highly tuned, quicker machines.
My GS500 should deliver about 60mpg on a run, not too sure what to expect around town.

I can get over 40mpg from my K4 GSXR 1000, if I ride sedately. Most sports 600s will be similar as you have to give them more beans.

a bike has better fuel economy if you compare it to cars that have similar performance

a sports 600 has similar performance to a lamborgini and is far more economical

a 250 4 stroke motorbike has similar performance to most cars and will be more economical. It will acellerate quicker at low speeds but may not have quite the same high speed.

80mpg vs 30 mpg
