Right I got an insurance offer on my YBR £199 for the year TPFT. Rang up tried to change it over to my new Hornet and they are not having any of it. I have to take out a new policy and will lose my 1 years NCB!!!!

Or i wait till 21st Oct and leave my new bike un insured in the back garden ERM NO

I wanna ride it!!!!

So looks like i Have to cancel my YBR one and lose the NCB.

Anyone else experienced this? i could let the YBR one expire and I would have 1 year NCB but it wouldnt mean anything anyway.

Damn

Cath

No point in cancelling the ybr if you take out a seperate policy, i did the same but switched from a moped, they started the new one while the old one was still going, hence i had my 2 years this time round Thumbs Up

I think its the jump in price because they switched my 600 to a 750 for admin fee plus a tenner Mr. Green

HAHA dont be silly the bike cost 8k lol

i went elsewhere got it for £560

haha just saying thats what my previous insurance company wanted

Im VERY VERY lucky too get it for £560 my Aquote hashed up big time.

Basically they sent me a quote for £560 which is obviously silly considering every other company wouldnt insure me. They phoned up and said we cant insure you sorry. I threatened to take it higher up and said i got written proof here of a quote from you lot and they ended up doing it lol

It wont work like that for me. The bike arrives on Tuesday and my insurance only runs out 21st October. Soooo if i start a new policy on monday I cannot put down 1 year as its not one year until Oct if you get me.

Then once the 21st Oct one expires then I still wont have 1 year cause they dont run on continously.

Its well shitty

No, as before i start looking at bikes and cars i look at the small details such as insurace first.

As said above, Get a months insurance on the big bike. You *might* not be able to keep the insurance on the YBR if somone else buys it as you can't have two ploices on one bike at the same time.

21, 2 years ncb

tried quite alot of companys and they all said no or stupid prices like £6000+

maybe if you search long and hard then you could probably get it lower than £560 but in all honesty I had a K6 GSXR750 in the garage and I couldnt wait to get on it, so I just stopped looking as soon as I got that quote

Just spoke to Carol Nash. They said leave the other policy running then when it expires I will have 2 next year. But as some one mentioned above i dont think you can insure a bike twice??

I will see.

Carol Nash quoted £420 TFFT which is spot on for me anyway.

I can't understand why they can't change your insurance to the Hornets. Every time I have had a different bike i just ring the insurance company up and they change it no problems, without any loss to the NCD? I would try again, it sounds like they got the wrong end of the stick to me.https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v112/finglonga/Finglonga%20Inc/ne_nau.gif

Yes, when I had my 50cc scooter, my insurance company 'Carole Nash' were most un helpful I was 2 months short of a years NCB. They wouldn't let me transfer or take out two policies, and if I went else where I think I would of lost it anyways.

That is wierd Catherine. After I passed my test I simply called my insurance to tell them that I had passed and had changed my bike, they simply updated my existing policy deleting old bike for new. Always done the same when changing cars Confused Fully comp - £297 - old bird on bike and good area I guess Laughing I reckon that your insurance have misunderstood what you want, either that or are just trying to rip you off!

Have you tried Bennetts for insurance. I find them very, very reasonable, they do special rates for women.

e.g. Its was £80 cheaper to insure my Fazer for me, than my husband, who has over 20 years riding experience, full no claims etc....plus I got 2 sp30's on my licence and he has none. Shocked

I suspect that the insurance came as a deal with the bike and there was probably a "no transfer" clause in it somewhere because it was so cheap.

Cath, £420 TPFT? Shocked Get back on the phone girl. As has been said, being a woman should get you a huge discount anyway, as will being a new rider with some companies. I also think the idea of a pay-as-you-go for the next few weeks (ebike are good for this) then starting a new policy for your big bike when you have your years NCB is worth looking into.

Incidentally, I paid £142 for my insurance this year, that is fully comp on both bikes with agreed values of £1000 for the 250 and £1500 for the 400, £150 excess, cover to ride other bikes 3rd party and breakdown. Mind you, that was with Carole Nash too! Laughing

Is £420 TPFT expensive then?

My YBR insurance was a "deal" with the bike. I paid £199 for the year TPFT. Thats probably why I cant upgrade it so to speak.

Where else should I ring for insurance>? I need it for Tuesday soif you could all post who you are insured with I will have a look.

With the 1 year NCB bennetts was £367.So not a massive diff in the 1 year to 0 year no claims discount tbh.

The only way is to ring them all and play them against each other, you can do it online but you wont get any where near a good price.
