Hello. In all honestly I have probably dropped my helmet 3 or 4 times since I got it (maybe more?) and I get the feeling it may not be very useful at saving my head. The problem is I'm (always) short of funds. So I guess my question is; should I go for one off eBay (one of the Nitros) or get a cheapish one from a local shop?

Have you dropped your helmet and carried on riding? Would you?

Cheers

that's all very well but they're all produced to the same European Union standards, yes? So from pure protection point of view they're all that polystyrene stuff inside with a plastic/polycarbonate(more expensive) shell?

it is all very well and i think you've answered your own question.

will you feel equally as secure with a cheap one manufactured to EC standards as you would with an expensive one to the same level?

eh. just try some cheapo ones on at the local bike shop unless you know FOR SURE that an ebay nitro will fit you. That way you avoid the whole ebay returns self imploding universe disaster and i've got stuff planned this weekend so i'd rather avoid that.
