Hey another new biker,

just wondering would an almax III be overkill in chaining up my yahama ybr125?
Cost about £150 but cant be bolt cropped, so im told.

Also to the new riders worried about insurance, get a new yahama ybr125 (£2000) which comes with free insurance.

Depends where you are, and where you will be leaving the bike?

If it's a nice area and you'll be keeping the bike in a locked, brick built garage I probably wouldn't bother.

If it's in your front yard, in the middle of the city, get one now!

However, remember you've gotta have something solid to chain it to.

Edit:

Just seen you're in London. You'd better get on the phone to Almax

Nothing is overkill if you value your bike, and it doesn't matter where you are. Thieves are not picky nowadays where they make the money..The more the better, but as said....

"to something solid it needs to be chained."

If you can afford it, get it. A good lock and chain is like a good watch, it will last you for years.

I'd say that 90% of the time that chain is a waste of money.

The number of uber secure £200 chains I see chained to a bog standard bit of metal or something is amazing. It'll probably be dead easy just to cut through whatever you chain it to.
