So anyone had a fault claim? How much did it affect your premium?

I had a fault claim (1 damaged car, 1 injured pillion) a couple of months ago, renewal is next month.

Are they gonna arse rape me? My premium was about £400 TPFT.

This will be me in a couple of months.

I claimed fault in a rear ender and lost 2 years NCB out of 7 to get the car done for free (minus excess), will be interesting what the premiums are Rolling Eyes

I think I'm going to have to bend over and spread them, although I've still got 5-6 years NCB they will have pleasure in offering me a higher premium as I am now a liablility in their eyes Mad

I work in commercial insurance but i think private motor works on the same principle. One fault claim alone shouldn't load your premium but i will strip away 1 or 2 years ncb. Two fault claims in one insurance year will generally wipe all your ncb out even if you had say 9 years it would step back to 0 with most insurers, unless you have protected bonus that is.

Two fault claims would also load your premium as well as stripping your ncb discount. Also1 fault claim and 1 or 2 speeding convictions would put a load of say 25% on your premium depedant on the Insurer.

If your record is purely 1 fault claim and you were on 5 years ncb discount (normally a 60-70% discount) then id expect your bonus to be reduced to 3 or 4 years (45-60% discount roughly) at Renewal.

the insurance companies are rubbing their hands with glee already and have a gentlemans (illegal) agreement so that they will not compete against each other (to force prices down) , and will all take turns ass raping you.

Unfortunately, unless you had protected NCB, you'll be renewing with 3 years. Most insurance companies recognise a maximum of 5 years, and you'll lose 2 years from that. (Sorry I'm an ex-employee of an insurance companies' renewals department) The claim itself generally will not do much to the premium, unless it was an expensive (~£50k+) injury claim. Convictions vary more from company to company, my car insurance went up considerably more than my bike insurance did (about 25% compared to about 10%) with my last speeding conviction (SP30 for 80mph on a dual carriageway).

I rekon my claim will be into the thousands.

Probably only 2 or 3 though.
