Evil or Very Mad

What a start to the day eh....

At trafalgar round-about, inside lane but on the left hand side of it. Approaching traffic lights and next thing you know, crunch Shocked. Right into my leg, and me bouncing my uperbody off the left hand wheel arch of his cab.

Super slow speeds, like 5mph so put both my feet down and did that it's a little to fast to run type motion on the bike whilst turning left. Nearly dropped the bike but recovered it and ended up half way across the next lane. Thank f*ck there was nothing there.

SO I sit up on the bike flip the visor ready to shout at the cum guzzler, but next thing you know he's out his cab slamming his door and marching towards me. You £$%£& this and you "*("£^) that, I was screaming back by this stage. He then say "you w@nker, you should be over more, there's always a red light jumper on this f*ckin round about you p£ick!!"

Didn't really understand his reasoning but all I could really do through my lid was swear a little back and say that he came right up my inside in my lane. Then the cock end calls me a w@nker one more time and actually punches me in the shoulder of all places...

Evil or Very Mad Shocked Evil or Very Mad

I would have jumped off then and there and booted the fucker to death so that there would be a tiny column for him just in front of nelson's.

BUT....It just so happened that there was a police rider on a 650gs (saw him way back infact) who was already at the lights and saw the argument bit at least. I don't think he would have done anything if the cabby hadn't hit me but he parked his bike right in front of the cab and came over as the cabbie was heading back to his car. He gave me an are you alright sort of look I think, then let me go. I looked back in the mirror and I think he was having words with the cabbie.

Strangely, when I got to work, other than a dead leg and a sore arm, there doesn't seem to be any damage... Very Happy A teeny little scuff and I mean less than a centimetre which will polish out. Think my leg and my boots took the brunt.

So not the best start to the day but for once I'm glad old bill was around....

fankyu, nothing like a bit of sympathy.

Think what took me back the most is the fact that I've never been properly clunked before, what a horrible sound!!

Plus I got into work and my boss has just reeled of some mad stat about 1 biker (think this includes cyclists) is killed or seriously injured everyday in London Shocked That can't be true though....

Doubt that's true.

Would have thought it would be higher. Remember London is a large area with ALOT of traffic as your aware. Factor in kid's on pushbikes, not to mention scooters and the figures would probably be very high.

Sounds to me like the cabbie thought he'd get a pre-emptive stike in by blaming you first. Glad you and the bike are ok.

Not far out, bit on the low side I'd have thought given that there were 6255 killed or seriously injured in 2004 in the UK. London accounts for approximately 12% of the population (I know a higher proportion use public transport, but a lot of people who live outside London also commute in).

The full figures, for cycles, bikes, cars, lorries, bussews and passengers each year over the last 10 years, can be found at the DfT

Can't understand why you went? You had a witness to an accident and assault! Plus you were injured, you should have got all his details and claimed on his insurance. Just hope your arm and leg are going to be ok.

Well yeah in hindsight, I should have just fallen off the bike Italian footballer style when he pushed me, but I was so shocked all I could do was swear and imagine Liv Tyler naked......

Plus the lights went green and I thought christ that moped is going to beat me off the lights!!

No seriously though I wasn't really thinking about much other than I don't believe that just happened. Plus the police bloke being there, traffic behind wanting to get going, I just poodled off.

Arm and leg are a bit throbby for some reason. They didn't hurt a bit this morning, but it's a dull ache now. Going to pop some nurofen and re-asses later, as long as I can strap myself onto my bike later then I dont mind.....

I'd feel alot better if someone had some naked pictures of liv tyler thankyou......

Point out to to your boss that in 1999, there were over 40,000 recorded accidents involving sofas (HSE figures) in the UK. That's around 110 sofa-related injuries every day of the year.

Add also that bike clothing and safety development research is funded far better than domestic furniture safety and therefore, statistically, you're less likely to be killed on your bike than injured whilst sat on your arse on a sofa.

That should shut him up.

So anythings possible I guess

One good thing about my bike, is there's room for a 5 foot chain under the seat, which can quickly be swung round and used in situtations like this. Causing maximum damage to flesh and metal.

For f**k sake, he crashed his car in to you, then punched you.

nice to know that there is sometimes a copper around when you need one.

cheeky cabby, knocks u over and then makes out you were in the wrong !

Might have been good to have him charged with assault and have the copper as a witness, and then sue for cash.

Admittedly this would be hassle.

Sorry to not appear sympathetic, but to get this straight...

a) cabbie drove into side of you
b) verbally abused you
c) had the audacity to hit you

...and you had a police witness?

Please tell me if this ever happens again you will get the cabbie and his insurance done to the maximum possible extent.

Siggi's probably flat out on his carpet, foaming at the mouth and having an aneurysm over this one Rolling Eyes.

Shame the copper was there so quick. He threw the first punch so anything (within reason) you do thereafter is self defence. I think I'd have gone for ending it quick with a helmet to the nose.

Don't be surprised if the coppers get in touch with you about it. An HGV driver I know was carved up badly by a guy in his car, nearly caused him to jacknife the wagon. During the following altercation, the HGV driver chinned the car driver one.

He was arrested. The car driver said he didn't want to press charges and even denied that he had been hit when it came to court. Other people who witnessed the barney said he had.

Despite this, the judge found him guilty of assault and gave him 200 hours community service. Apparently this was part of a 'crackdown on road rage'.

Bit bloody harsh if you ask me.
