YZF-R6 Rear Tyre - Help!

just got back home after riding in the pissing rain Evil or Very Mad

put the hose on the bike to wash off all the road crud and then proceeded to dry it off. at the rear of the bike i heard a hiss and assumed it was just water boiling in and around the exhaust.....

that was until i noticed this little git wedged in the rear tire Crying or Very sad

i twisted the head a little and it no longer leaks, i guess the bike is now unrideable with the damn screw in it Sad

i know it has gone right though and have no idea if the screw is intact or what its length is, if possible im keen to repair it. if the tyre is indeed dead can i have some advice from other R6 owners Thumbs Up

where can i get a good set of all round tyre's for the R6 (01) i have a set of BT45's on the NSR and they are great, are there any reccomendations for the R6? im kinda skint so need a good all rounder for a good price. Is M&P any good for this kinda thing, never been tyre hunting for an R6 yet lol

The pilot power that you,ve already got on is a good make of tyre and for a few more quid you can get a 2CT one.

Continental road attacks are a good touring tyre but there grip would,nt be as good as a sticky pilot sport/power, really depends on how you ride.

wouldnt bother repairing mate - not suitable for higher speeds - best go for a new one

the 2ct tyre is a two compound tyre - harder in the centre for longer life but nice and grippy(softer) on the edges!!

I would have no problem at all in getting that plugged and riding it, at pretty much any speed you're liikely to do on the road, for the rest of the life of the tyre.
Tyre dealers will often tell you they don't repair tyres. Why not? Could it be so you buy a new one, perhaps?
That tyre is as repairable as any I've seen.

Ive plugged my tyres before and all has been fine... I mean they wouldnt make the plugs if they werent safe!

ya can also try cambrian tyres.. havent got there number but they are in wales and do mail order..

Same thing happened to me with the exact same tyre, I just screwed the scew in tighter and carried on riding with no problems until the tyre ran out.

If moneys low then plug it or screw it in tighter and keep checking it or if ur rich then go and get the 2CT

get it plugged, i used a temporary plug put in by me on my gsxr750, it survived wheelies. 160+mph and kneedowns.
