I came out of work today to find my scooter on its side, there was oil everywhere, my manager helped me lift it up and we just looked and said a bit of oil and it will be fine, no obvious fairing cracks just a scratched miror which i can replace cheaply.

On my ride home i noticed my handle bars had to point left to go in a straight line, my initial thought is bent forks.

So what can i do, i dont have comp insurance so how much will this cost to repair (2006 runner sp) or is it better to sell up.

Also what chance do i have of claiming off the council as it was their car park, is it worth contacting the police in case someone saw something?

I am really upset, especially as i was keeping it in pristine condition, it looked brand new this morning.

Would any repairs done at a dealer show up on a hpi check when i sell it?

Bad luck. I doubt your forks are bent though - someone will come along shortly telling you how to straighten things up by loosening a few bolts and then knocking your wheel against a wall or something.

No repairs will show up on HPI - to get on HPI you have to have very serious damage that is reported to the insurance company.

I'd report it to the police and the council (although it's not the council's fault and they won't pay anything). There might be lots of it going on, and they'll only know about it if people report it. There might even be CCTV overlooking the car park.

Just knock it back into place and it will be okay I have seen it on scooters b4, takes literally 2 seconds to rectify the whole issue, if you wish we can meet and I can demonstrate!

You couldn't explain it to me, i'm up in yorkshire so its bit far to meet.

Thata a real bummer, you must be really pissed off, I know how you feel. Some stupid women reversed right into my bike and knocked it over as she was 'trying' to park her car, claims she never saw it.
Mirror was knocked off and clutch lever wrenched around the handle bar as well as deep scratches and scuffs to the body work.

I think someone was on about this in another thread the other day. Didn't like their ped but wanted to spray it.

I'll say to you what I said to them -

If you're getting a new bike relatively soon don't worry. If it's REALLY bad then touch it up so you can sell it for a bit more when the time comes, but if its tiny scratches then I wouldn't bother

You may have full comp insurance but check your excess first as the first £xxx amount you would have to pay anyway, you may also lose your no claims discount.

The council will have a disclaimer saying " Vehicles and property are left at owners own risk" so you won't get anything out of them. The Police will just at best give you a crime reference order, unless you have witnesses of whet happened and who did it.

Not what you wanted to hear soory.

I'm only TPFT and i wouldn't claim as the NCB is worth more to me.

I think its sorted, just take the fairing off tomoz and see if there is any damage, my uncle doubts it will have anything wrong and he is fairly experienced in bikes.

The fairing is excellent and the mirror bent back into place, after a wipe down with a damp cloth the small scratches on the fairing edge are barely noticeable.

Someone was trying to nick it, i just realised the kickstart was out and the steering must have been bent when trying to break the steering lock.

Pathetic chavs who i probably served today who thought you could kicj start it without the ignition on.

I know that i will never be happy until i get another bike, even if this one is perfect, i will still always know what happend.

I came out of a friends house once to find my old scoot on its side. It was on the center stand which I always check when parking the bike up to make SURE it cant fall over. There wasnt a mark on it either. First thoughts where it was pushed over but it wouldve had marks on it if it had. It was as if someone had actually layed it down as a joke or something...

Do what I do and chain your bike to a lampost/tree.

No way. You'd have to crash the fucker into something to bend them.

Release the pinch bolts and bump it in to a wall. It'll be fine.

yea all it is,is the stem isnt lined up with the handlebars

i had a runner 172 & flipped it & bent the forks & handlebars so iv stripped them before & all YOU need to do is take off the clock surround panel & you'll see a fat allen key bolt, just loosen that then twist bars back round then tighen up again,SIMPLE! Wink
(UNLESS,the groove that the bolt half sits in is skewed, doubtful though from a push over)

abit baffled as to why your manager helped you lift up a runner Laughing i lifted my SRAD on on my own & thats 1 of the fattest bikes

Shit happens to bikes.

If everytime some little thing happens to a bike you will never 'trust it', then your biking career will probably be a rather unhappy one.

A few times this year I've crashed a bike, got a drill, some bodging bolts and cable ties out and been back for the next race on a bike that hasn't caused me any problems from those angles - and we're talking mostly moderate speed crashes, over 100mph in one case definitely.

Ok, if there's something wrong, sort it, but don't be getting all paranoid over it Smile.
