cagiva gezzer:
I'm not sure if you have noticed this or not, it might just be the light in the video or a short circuit in the wire or switch, but it looks like the oil light is coming on when you thrash it down the road. ____________________ Fire by name Firefighter by nature.

Sorry to be negative, but oh dear!
So we want to remove the reedblock stuffer, and run our high specific power output two stroke without a powervalve, and with gaskets made out of cardboard boxes!
Maybe you could/should put down your spanners, and take the engine to someone who knows their 2strokes very well, who will hand you back a very carefully assembled motor, that runs really well and has lots of power, in exchange for a few hundred notes! |

You have to get the top end off to set the powervalve gap don't you? If you took the powervalve off, get ready to take a few bits off your engine to set it up properly before it munches your piston rings.
Is it still restricted? The only restrictor is a ring in the exhaust. Once removed, all you need to do is change the main jet. You're supposed to change other jets too, but i didnt on my planet and the spark plug is a very nice healthy looking one.

engine is ready to come out! it just got too dark to carry on. will finish it tomorrow, going to clean the carbon build up on the piston crown, cylinder head and the transfer ports aswell as the exhaust port, adjust the power valve and generally clean the outside of the whole unit. hopefully get a bit more power from it its got 26,000kms on the clock too!! anyone know if the power valve cam shaft casing should ave oil in it? if so what oil should i replace it with if needed? ____________________ Dont do a wheelie in front of a traffic copper... it gets you 3pts and £220 fine. |

The powervalve mechanism should be lubricated with copper grease, as it needs to withstand the temperature of the exhaust gases.
If you're dropping the engine out, why not do a rebuild considering the mileage? Gives peace of mind to yourself and future owners and saves waiting to do it later. Might aswell do it while it's easy

I was thinking just top end, but you may have a point, i'm not sure when it needs a full rebuild including bottom end
I thought copper grease was the lubricant of choice for powervalve mechanisms
