My friend deleted her soundcard drivers from her laptop, I've tried to install some new drivers but to no avail.

Any help would be appreciated.

She has an Acer Travelmate 4000, apparently.

You can try this driver. It would be easier if your friend had the driver disks that came with the laptop or find out what chipset it has.
