I work at McDonalds part time (don't laugh it's for a bigger bike) and what shocks me is that they won't let bikers go through the drive thru. They will let me through because I asked but anyone who goes through on a bike has to go back round and queue inside.

Have any of you ever had this problem because I had an arguement with my manager about it. If a persons only means of transport is a bike why aren't they allowed through the drive thru? They let boy racers with modified cars through but call bikers anti social. Opinions please.

I'd throw an absolute hissy fit if they didn't let me order from the drive through.....

In fact that's the kind of bull shit that prompts moments similar to that in Falling Down, if you've seen it you'll know what I mean......

I am really pissed off about it. I know I am only a kid on a 50cc ped but the fact they will let all the boy racers who hang about in the car park with their music full blast through and not a biker on his way home from work Mad

There isn't a reason. The only one I can think off is when groups of people on peds come thru and rev the fuck out of their engines, Thing is I served a bloke on an R1 the other day and got disciplinary for it! Shocked

My boss used to be a biker! I have no idea WTF Maccy d's are doing discriminating against bikers for. Most of the more respectable ones come through order and then ride off, simple as.

If i was a cynic i'd say its bcause on average a bike will take longer (removeing of gloves, finding of places to put stuff e.t.c.) so it reduces the ammount of money they can make per minute...

One reason its worth kicking up a bit shit with managers, but sometimes it gets boreing when you just want to go somewhere and pay for somehting and get out like any normal person Rolling Eyes

There a franchise afaik? maybe its a policy they have decided to make up themselfs, or just one thats never enforced (ive been through my local one before)

It would be a shame for the bike brake down untill they serve you Wink

I suspect it's to do with the 'compensation culture', especially in America.

Biker buys food and drinks, then rides off with food and drink poory secured around bike.
Biker sues for burns, damage to bike etc; McDonalds loses lots of money.

It is a franchise but most of the policies are the same as every other maccyd's in the country it's just down to personal preference. Whenever I am on drive thru I will always serve a biker and some thank me for that and now know what hours I work so they can come through but other staff are dicks and follow company policies

I go thru the maccy d's drive thru loads on my bike, never once had a problem.

Had a few funny looks from the guys there but thats about it. At the end of the day as long as you aint buying a boiling hot cupa coffee and trying to rest it on between your knees i dont see the problem.

They want to sell food, you want to buy food... sorted Thumbs Up

Yeah sounds like horse shit to me, I also go through McDonalds drive through on my bike plenty... never buy drink and just whack the burgers/whatever into my backpack.

If they said "No, you have to come in", I'd either just turn the engine off and sit there until I got served, or go inside and demand to know the specific reasons... if they had no valid reason i'd probably pull some stunt like order my food and then make it look like i'm faffing about in pockets to get my money out... long enough for them to go and bag up whatever I want... grab it and do a runner. if i pulled up to the drive thru and they said we cant serv you, id sit there untill they did, hold up traffic, cost them money.

its like the signs that say " please remove helmet" on the petrol pumps in morrisons, i just dont look at the woman/man behind the counter, fuel up and pay, im in a rush, cba faffing around with my helmet.

But then again, you have to think about it..."Do I really want to mess with someone who is serving my food".

"Okay Sir, your *Cough* Phlegm *Cough* burger is on its way." Sick

I have been to a number of drive throughs on my 500. Usually only for a drink or ice cream rather than a whole meal... just carefully balance it on the tank and give it loads of clutch slip pulling off...

As others have said if anyone who works in mcdonalds told me they were not serving me, it would either result in them being dragged out of the service window or me just sitting there untill they did or called the police (more likely.. Razz)

I reckon they would have cover against something like that, there's no way that the most evil corporation on earth would leave themselves exposed to something like that.....

Probably the same sort of cover that applys to chavs who raz away and "drop" their hot apple pies onto their nobs scarring them for life...

I think it's a judgement call from the manager to be honest....

if this was the case then why would they have driv-thrus? IMO the same risk is applicable to cars?
