Can someone explain how this works?

Ive downloaded a folder full of files, aparently i need to unrar them.

How do I do it? (please tell it to me like the complete n00b I am, i.e. 'you go to 'tools' 'options' etc etc coz otherwise i'll get lost! (which is what im trying to do Wink - a little riddle for you there!)

get this

install it.

then right click on one of your .rar files and select EXTRACT HERE to extract the files to the same location or EXTRACT FILES to open Winrar and select another location.

Ok... I think its working. Although only 1/3 of the files in the folder appear to be .rar files, is that right?

It's lost season 2 disk 4 btw.

yeah its probably right.

some can be .r00 .r01 .r02 etc.

if they're numbered sequentially then doing the first one normally does them all.

can you change the folder view to details from the VIEW menu on the toolbar and post the pic again?

thats cool.

righ click on TOOLS --> FOLDER OPTIONS --> VIEW (tab) --> and untick HIDE EXTENSIONS FOR KNOWN FILE TYPES then click OK.

when you look at the list now the files at the top (with the rar icon) should show their extesions and the should begin with .r00 and so on.

double click the .r00 file and itll open winrar and show you the contents of the file. from there you can highlight all the rar files and click the extract button on the toolbar of winrar then select a location to extract the files to.

yep its an .img file.

you can either burn that file to disc or extract it and i think you can also mount it. i'd burn it as extracting or mounting is a whole other tutorial.

try this for burning it.

How do I use this ISO program? Ive tried burning it but it says the disk is not blank, but it is.

afraid youll need to check the help files on that one mate. just found it as it says its an .img burner.

i've not had .img files before...i usually end up with .iso which is essentially the same thing (a single file copy of a CD/DVD) which i burn using nero but some sites have said nero doesnt work with .img files.

From reading this thread, you are trying to burn a CD. The img file extracted from the rar files (just a better version of winzip - better compression so smaller file sizes).

Haven't used the software you were pointed to but having downloaded it, it does look as though you just open the image file and burn to cd.

Must say I use Nero and am in the lucky position of having a legit copy through work ( no help to you though Sad ). You can download a trial version and that may be the way to go. The trial ought to include nero imagedrive which would let you mount the image in a virtual cd drive.

Just re read the bit about nero and img files. Am sure I've added a .iso extension to the end of the img file and burnt it with Nero.

Just to let you guys know, I got hold of a version of 'virtual clone drive'. Which enabled me to just watch it on the pc rather than burn it.
