V-twins need a bit of revving to pull away, and if they stall its fairly violent, ive dont i before, that guy was just a noob for grabbing the brake.

what utter tosh. just today i actually pulled away using the idle.....up a small hill. if anything it is a benefit of a v-twin that it is easy to pull away! compared to say an IL4 apparently.

Idiot for grabbing so much brak tho.

Obviouslly depends completely on the engine and the idle speed setting.

I used to set my idle so high it would accelerate away with no throttle - Now I run it lower and it would just stall.

V-twins are alot harder to pull away on than a big IL4, remember there are only 2 pistons, also combined with a hydrolic clutch they are quite hard to use for a noob.

Sports v-twins don't tend to have a lot of low down power.
Commuter style bikes (v-twin or 4) tend to have a much smoother power delivery.

This is one of the reasons I'm not a fan of twins for 'sports' bikes - not only don't you get the top end rush, but they aren't usually noticably better low down.

The SV does have a remarkably linear/plain/smooth power delivery from low revs to red line. However, compared to a 749 ducati, if you look at peak hp/cc, the SV would need another 20hp top end to give it a similar ratio of power to cc.
As it hasn't been designed to have so much top end, they can have a beefier low and midrange.

Oh, but I don't think a 749 should be hard to pull off on though, unless you're pretty crap Razz.

its not hard, its just more difficult than an Il4, when R6 jonny bought a 748 he stalled it about 5 times before he actually pulled away.
I stalled a TL1000R when i first rode one of them, got it second time round though Razz.
