Help-Missing Files !!

Basically...... my daughters georaphy gcse coursework has disappeared off our pc. She hasnt deleted it. Its a lot of work too.

I have done all the usual things.... they are not in the recycle bin, and I have done a search on the pc for the files/folders but they have vanished. The only things that are left are.........shortcuts, which dont work cos they say the files are missing.

So..........

1. Is that it, have they gone forever or is there anything else I can do to find them.

2. She does use msn a lot, and transfers stuff to and from her friends.......... can anyone have got access to our pc and deleted them, hijacked our pc?

3. Could it have something to do with Google Earth, that was installed then unistalled on the same day?

I feel really sorry for her, cos she works really hard and doesnt deserve this.

Any ideas anyone??

There is this program that Instigator reccommended. I tried it and it works for recovering deleted pictures, but you can also select to recover documents, such as word files etc...

Go here and download the trial version:

They have updated their file to version 3.98...the crack above works for version 3.97.

Hmmm, give it a try anyway and if the crack doesn't work then I will upload the previous version (3.97) for which the crack does work.

Search on xp is sometimes shart, it wont search all subfolders/hidden files, try checking that, sounds daft but i've had similar happen before :/

Also in the search box try

*.doc or *.jpg whatever the extension of the work is normaly saved as this makes siftying through allot easyer
