Buying new phone - which one??

Not sure if this is the wrong area, so mods please move if need be

I'm going mobile phone shopping with my boyfriend tomorrow and need some help. I haven't paid any attention to new phones on the market for years, so i haven't got a clue where to begin looking, or what contracts are best anymore

He wants something that:

holds a lot of media
has big buttons (big hands you see)
doesn't look 'girly'
is easy enough to use
wont break the first time you flip it open
and is pay as you go

He has the Motorola Razr at the mo and hates it.

I'm not happy with my w810i at all, I was, but now I'm not.

It's recently started deleting random bits, like my pictures and what not. Last week it deleted ALL the games I had on it (I had 10) so that's a few quid that's cost me when there £3-3.50 each.

Try a firmware upgrade Rob, I had that with my k700i, all my message were getting deleted and in the end I could only store 1 message!

I have a Nokia 6230, great little phone, been dropped plenty of times & it's been fine. Looks nice too.

I've had the k750i for about a year now, and I honestly think it's the best phone I've had so far (including a couple of highly regarded Nokias).

Plenty of storage space due to the removeable/upgradeable memory stick, a decent camera, polyphonic & MP3 ringtones, a clear display in full colour, and all very easy to use.
I've heard of some people having problems with the joystick breaking or not responding, but it's not something that I've experienced myself.

If or when I upgrade the only phone I've considered so far is the W800i purely because it's got all the features of my current phone, plus a better camera and more storage space.

Nokia N91, its not on PAYG and its got quite small keys, but you get 4gb of space, very good media player and you can plug normal headphones into it instead of having to use the crap hands free kit that came with the phone.

We didn't get to go shopping today in the end, but there's always next week.

He likes the look of all the nokias that have been suggested, but i personally like the W810I (it's too small for him but i could always get one ). So we're going to take a look in the nokie shop next week.

Any ideas which tariffs are best at the moment? He's currently with Vodafone but spends a fortune on txts. Anybody know any good package/ bolt on txt deals??

the resolution is fine for most snaps, but i'll admit the lense is crap. loads of nasty polarisation round the edges.

still, i wouldnt trade my exa exec for any other phone.

dont use the carphone whorehouse. when you take out a contract with them it is with them not with your service provider.

they are the only store that operate this way. everyone else just brokers the deal with you and the phone provider. you may get a cheaper phone there but when you try to end your contract or upgrade or change your contract you will get burnt. they try every trick they can to take your money
