**LONG POST**

48 Hour Movie Competition

What a weekend!!!

After travelling 176.44 miles to Dudley on Friday 1st September, and staying a night at Colins house (Colin1). Me and Goobie (director) got to the Odeon cinema just before 9AM to pick up our entry details.

What we had to do for the 48 hour movie competition was:
• Write
• Film
• Edit
• Hand In

A 5 minute film, which had to be based on the information we get given at the Odeon cinema, Dudley. The information we were given was:

• Title: Claustrophobic
• Genre: Comedy
• Line of Dialogue: “Is that the best you can do!?”

All 33 teams got different information, and we were happy with what we got.

So after we got our information, we started the 177.61 mile drive home. (Don’t ask why it’s longer)
We had a major disadvantage to other teams as we had to drive all the way home before we could start filming, as some off our actors were unable to stay up in Dudley.

When we got home, Me and Goobie got some sleep, as we needed it. While the rest off Bum Chin Productions started throwing ideas around. We all met up later in the evening and finally wrote the script for our film:

“A Man suffers from Claustrophobia and goes to a psychiatrist to try and fix his problem, after finding the psychiatrist slightly mad. He takes his advice and goes to a small space… A lift, upon getting to the top of the building, He shouts to God “Is that the best you can do!?” upon which god gives him Arachnophobia”

We all decided where all the scenes would be shot and how it would all work. And we all left at about midnight Saturday night.

Early Sunday morning (8AM) we all met up and decided to find and check all the sets we would be using later in the day. The sets we needed were:
• Psychiatrist room
• Lift
• Big open car park/ roof of building
• Maintenance room
• School
• Public toilets

We had found all these sets, and all were good for filming apart from a lift. (Being the main part of the film) Apparently most public car park lifts close on Sundays (Very helpful!!!) and we ended up using a lift for a block of flats.

After we found all the sets, we set out to get al the props we would need for the film.

Off to the shops. Waiting for tills to open.

After we had gathered all the props, we started running out of space.

Some of the props had to be modified:

After we gathered all the props it was time to go filming. (finally!!!)
At 11AM we started filming the psychiatrist scene.

This was brilliant, to film as the set was perfect for what we wanted.

Next to film was the wrestling scene:

When the wrestling scene was finished, we tidied up the Judo gym we borrowed, and left to film the bullying scenes. (wasn’t able to take photos as I was in it)

Then we went on to film the lift scene. (in theory should have been the longest to shoot, but ended up being the most rushed)

Then finally we got onto the final scene (YAY!!!!) which was on top of a car park.

Having Ian Kennedy (Robbie Young) in wide fronts (or nude) is a regular occurrence in any Bum Chin film.

With all the filming done by about 6PM on the Sunday, we all went back to the house and uploaded all the footage to pc.

This is when we found out that the microphone + Minidisk combination we had tested Saturday night (which was successful) wasn’t picking up enough sound, and what it did pick up was really bad (so that was a complete flop) and we ended up using the sound off the video camera (which isn’t perfect)

After some food and a break, we started on the editing. While Me and Goobie edited the film, we had Robbie, Ad, and Mini creating the music for the film (Including “Butter” and “Spid-e-boy”)

At about 3AM this morning the editing was finished. (One the first edit, the film was 12 minutes long, and to get it down to 5 minutes was really hard)

We burnt the film to DVD and it was sent off this morning, about 15 minutes before our deadline.

Now we just have to wait 4-6 weeks, till we can see our film being played in the Odeon cinema in Dudley.

This is the finished 5 minute film. We might be editing a longer one, as it makes a bit more sense.

I Hope you have enjoyed the VERY long post.

Is the Dudley cinema viewing open to the public? I'd be quite interested in seeing the outcomes!

Thumbs Up

The films will be shown from anything from 4-6 weeks from now.

All films that don't break rules will be shown.

All teams get an allocated number off seats for the showing.

and roughly, the bum chin lot is:

Me
Goobie
Mini
Zeke
Eggar
Robbie

and some more...
