Having not had a bike for two and a bit years, thats now changed. Very Happy

Before getting my 4x4 there was the slight thinking that it'd be good cos I could put a bike on the back, I'd looked a bit at pitbikes previously but didn't really want one. Went to Wales with Korn last weekend to watch racing and came back decided that something for greenlaning would be a good idea. I've got two years bike NCB which I found out expire on the 6th September and using them would take my L200 insurance down by £250 so this was seeming a much better idea.

After looking around on eBay, free ads, and some MX websites, I find a '94 XR250. 9,500 miles on it and only one owner, sounds quite good. A four stroke should be easier than a two, and as it's a 250 it shouldn't be too powerful. Talk to him more and find out details like he's got 8 years of receipts/invoices for servicing/parts.

I go and look at it yesturday, he's in London near Wandsworth/Lewisham so going to view it at 6pm was some fun driving in london rush hour. I think it's had a fairly easy life, the owner works at Imperial College and has used it for commuting. Seems fairly tidy but the tyres would probably want changing vaguelly soon. Turns out he's never changed them and they're the original tyres, talking to Korn later who's got the same bike and he says he goes through tyres in 2-3 months so I'm not really sure if this guy has ever actually accelerated quickly. The only bike I've riden in the past couple of years is Jon's race bike when taking it to scrutineering, I didn't really want to go and play on the south circular so I went around residental roads a bit, it all seems quite alright and it's fun to ride.

£900 later and lots of tie down straps its on the back of my pickup. Mr. Green Seemed to take ages loading it up but I hope once I've done it a few times it should be lots quicker. Driving's a bit more hassle as I can't see anything out the back and for some reason london white vans seem less interested in sitting really close behind me now, and no it wasn't about to fall off. Razz

Been out playing on it in woods and fields near here this morning and only had one person moan at me for riding it where I shouldn't be so far. 5 miles later and its fun. Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green Mr. Green

So it'll be mostly used for greenlaning whilst trying not to break it and myself.

So you have one of these then, like I've got on mine...? Handy to know I've got free parking when I go to London. Wink

It had one of those instigator but he kept it.

The ramp isn't mine colin, its borrow from G . It's a bit of hassle getting bikes in and out of the back of the pickup though, fair bit higher than a van so not very easy to walk it up a ramp. Have missed bikes and the XR greenlaning is great as it's fun whilst being completely within the law and without going very fast. Smile

It is good Andy, wait until the time seems right then you'll be back on two wheels as well Thumbs Up

Tinted windows on the L200 dom? Nah, need to get a sports bar with big spotlights on it first. Should sort some lights as otherwise loading the bike in the dark will be a bit of a problem.

Out playing on it on the North Downs Way. Just got to remember, don't use the front brake very much and accelerating probably is the answer if having trouble holding a line.

Out again on Thursday down to the Kent Downs which'll hopefully have less walkers, cyclists and horses riders midweek.

I'm now converted to the muddy side. Mr. Green
