Well, my eldest goes to high school today.

It is his first day and I do not know who is the more nervous (although he seems to be coping really well with his nerves)
He’s currently getting kitted up in his new school uniform and I’m trying not to think about the fact that my gentle, naive sensitive little boy is going to the big school.
He’s going to (probably) get his head flushed down the toilets, Learn all the little sex related witticisms and generally turn from loving child into terrible teen.

I should imagine that going to an all boys school will change him forever, gone will be the sweet boy that will quite happily play for hours with a group of girls because he is intimidated by boys, gone will be my son who wants to please me by helping all he can around the house. It feels like he is not going to be my little boy anymore and that my usefulness is nearing its sell by date.
He is not going to want to spend time with me, preferring instead to hang around on street corners with his mates, taking the piss out of the younger kids in the area. Oh happy days!

I can see I’m going to be a bag of nerves all day until I see him walk through the front door, Hopefully in one piece! Where did the last 11 years go?
Everyone keeps saying that the last 5 years of school go quicker than any other time and I will look back and wonder where it all went, but I’m doing that already!

im sure he will be fine,

everyone/everyones parents are nervous when they start a new school/ college etc

but after a few days it will just feel like nothing has happened, and as it will be a everyday part of his life, you wont even think anything of it

senior school is the best time of your life,

i wish i could go back and do it all again sooo much fun.. and much better than working,

6 hours of school a day, with no money worries sound pretty good to me rather than 8 hours of hard work and paying my mum back 800 quid for part of the bike and insruance Razz

i bet when he steps in the door today he will tell you what wonderfull time he has had,

i remember the first day of senior school for me, made alot of new friends, and as soon as i got home went to play football with them, didnt even speak to my mum until at least 7PM about how my first day was Razz

but overall dotn worry he will be fine, and on street corners harrassing little kids in no time at all Cool

Matt

My youngest started junior school today, and we've recently moved so it's double the stress. I spent an hour pacing up and down this morning waiting for a phone call from the missus. Phone finally rang, I find out my youngest practically ran into school, last spotted nattering away like she's been there forever......

I have all this to come when Josh starts first school.
He is a good boy, altho last week he bit someone at nursery.
Now I feel guilty thinking that my son did this. But, he has obviously lernt it from someone there.

Another worry I have is that he is bullied anyway, What's it going to be like now?
We moved to the area last February and the boys round here really stick together. You find gangs of kids ranging from age 5 right through to 15 (because they are all related!) Since we've moved the poor lad's been picked on by the younger boys, who have the backing of the older ones. The parents don't give a toss about what their kids are doing, not until mine fight back and then it's all their fault if you know what I mean! One mother actually came in through my front door chasing my youngest and calling him a little C*** Shocked Luckily enough I was in the bathroom at the time or there would have been blood on the moon!
If it were my youngest one going to 'big' school, I don't think I would have so many concerns, He's a lot more streetwise and able to stand his own ground even against the older lads! Strange how two children can be so different! Confused

Unfortunately there's no choice where we live Confused
They DO interact with the girl's school but thats on a very limited basis! Some say it's better, no distractions and all that malarkey, but my own personal opinion is that the boys there don't seem to mature quite as quickly!

I remember I used to bunk off school, catch two buses to go and flirt with the boys from the school he's going to. Scary

Thought!! Wink

I went from a private primary school where i was abit naughty (like any kid), but never had any fights, then moved on to a private secondary school where i had 5 fights and got in a bunch of trouble. Not complaining though, i got in a fight not long ago at a club with a bunch of chav's, and i won, so im glad i learnt how to take care of myself at big school. Now off to college where everyone mellows out, hopefully some nice girls there.

Pick him up for the first month on the back of the (or A) bike. Everyone will go "thats the cool kid with bikers picking him up, he's A)Hard as nails B)Cool as fuck C)Not a target for bogwashing" Very Happy

And try and buy him some porn mags, otherwise he may just turn into a pillow biter, what with all the Goosing that goes on in boys schools :p

I went to a boys school, not because my parents sent me there but because it was a good rated school.
There was the Girls school right next door, So it wasnt completely a saussage Fest!

The good thing about the all boys schools is you didnt get the guys showing off and competing to impress the girls. Also the teachers could be a lot more straight on and not be to worried about certain things said being offencive towards females. Because there were none.

After a few weeks of being there, It just felt normal too. There wasnt a "ooh, why are there no girls" feeling about it.

Well, The deed is done.
He had a fantastic first day. Is in love with his form tutor, none of the boys from this area are in his class (yes!!) and he is dead impressed with the easy access to food! (It's the first time he's ever been able to buy hot food before school and during first break, I have a feeling I'm going to have to 'up' his pocket money, either that or pray that the novelty will wear off Laughing )
He's found out that there's going to be some really cool trips with the history dept. and has already managed to make a friend!
(Dance! @ geeky friends)

Next hurdle will be today, What I didn't know, until he got home last night was that only the new starters went back yesterday! Today is THE BIG ONE, where the rest of the school will be milling round in between lessons and fighting over the queue in the canteen! (and it's my youngest lad's first day back in school too so I get a nice quiet day - am off shopping to take my mind off it Laughing )
All in all it seems to be going quite well (famous last words) Laughing

A conversation I had with my son last year...

scummy blim
Bursts in through the door waving a piece of paper
"Mum, mum, mum can I go on this?"

Me
Reads piece of paper.
"Ummmm, no"

Scummy blim
"Why not?"

Me
"I simply can't afford to pay £1,500 for you to go snowbording to Canada for a week. Besides, you can't snowboard."

Scummy blim
"I can snowboard, I've done it loads of times on the Playstation"

Me
*think* "Twat"

Scummy blim
"All my friends are going."

Me
"I told you to make friends with the ones from the council estate."

Scummy blim
"I hate you."

Me
"Here's ten pence. Go phone childline."

I'm short and ginger, when I went to school some big fat lad tried picking on me.

I almost took his hand off with a saw. None of the 'hard' kid's even said a word to me after that. Razz
