I love Andy McNabb books too - just recently finished reading Aggressor.
(...and Chris Ryan) Thumbs Up

so my choices would probably be something like:
Bravo Two Zero
Immediate Action
Blackout
Zero Option
plus whatever Haynes manual I seem to need this week Wink

Must admit I think I've Overdosed on the whole SAS / Special Forces thing for now, but must admit that B20 started the whole thing off years ago. Have read a couple of the McNab, Ryan novels all a bit samey to me now.

I think it's getting near to that point for me soon too TBH.
I just tend to get a bit obsessive whenever I get interested in something, so once I read one McNabb book and enjoyed it, I got another after another... you get the idea.

I was the same in my teens with Stephen King and James Herbert books Rolling Eyes

THE CENTURY OF THE SURGEON by Jurgen Thorwald.

The history of surgery is the history of the past century. It begins in the year 1846 with the discovery of anesthesia and the possibility of operating painlessly. Everything that went before is but a night of ignorance,, of toture, and of fruitless wandering in the dark. The history of the past century, however, spreads before ust he most tremendous view known to humanity.

Its written in a biographical style as if the author is travelling the world as the discoveries are being made. I've read it a number of times and enjoyed it as much as the 1st time, written in the 50's Embarassed its still a classic Wink

Other favs have got to be James Herbert Thumbs Up Rats is an all time classic horror Wink

My five, in no particular order...

Arrow Captain Hornblower RN - collection of Hornblower novels by C. S. Forester
Arrow Mort - Discworld novel by Terry Pratchett. In fact include any other discworld novel with the witches or Rincewind.
Arrow Lord of the Rings - J.R.R. Tolkien, everyone should read this at least once.
Arrow Casino Royale - Ian Fleming. A far darker James Bond than the movies.
Arrow Touching the Void - Joe Simpson. A book about survival and a cracking read.

Thumbs Up

That was my favourite Herbert book. The first Rats was good, but the second one was a bit weak. Also liked the Fog, '48 and a few others.

Went off him though, too many stories about psychics.
