didn't someguy get 4 years for crim damage for using a tyre and petrol to knobble a camera? , considering murder only gets you 6 years (18 years plead guilty - 1/3 , parole after 1/2 of the 2/3 left).

His plan backfired as the camera retained images of his van approaching the camera and it exploding.

So as far as I can see, his big mistake was in not using enough explosives. Bigger bang, no evidence.

reading the story makes me think he was just silly ,

it is well known men with families who have driving as a key part of their jobs and are the only providers in the family alost certainly get the +3 points but no ban , there are blokes out there with 30+ points , one on macintyres big sting had 28 points two guys in Cornwall had 48 points.

mainly cus the government doesn't want to put them outta a job and put them on the dole train which in essence is collective punishment on everybody else.

ive never understood wanting to destroy them as its too much risk to yourself if you get caught.

disabling thems the way to go...simple things like painting out the lens, covering them in duct tape etc.

sure its relativley easily sorted but quick, simple and effective IMO Thumbs Up

He had already been caught by it, so wanted to destroy it to get rid of the evidence it already had of him.

Here's a thought... if the nation as a whole went and destroyed all of the speed cameras, what would the government do about it?

They couldn't do anything. A law is only enforceable if the people truly want it. If they don't they revolt. We had a civil war over that very issue and the likes of Oliver Cromwell would be rocking in their graves if they ever knew about how we just let the nanny state rules govern us today. We all choose to have number plates - if we all as a nation decided one day to remove them what use would speed cameras be!

Hmm, maybe we should organise a National No Numberplate day then?

Unfortunatly, number plates are useful for lots of reasons. I like the idea of an all-out "Speed Camera Extinction Day" though....

About £30k for the normal ones is the commonly given figure. About 10 times that for a SPECS setup.

All the best
