Why on earth were you buying iron oxide?

Did they shoot you first before asking the question?

So they came round your door because you were buying ferrous oxide from a chemical company. Must have been hard not to laugh in their faces.

I hope you pointed out to them that you have a load more of it stashed on the underside of your car.

What I find a great deal more worrying is that we have a carbouy of fuming nitric acid at work and I have no idea why. All manner of 'hazards in the chemical laboratory' you can experience with that stuff.

So if I went and emptied the shelves at B&Q/Focus/Homebase/Wilkinsons by buying a certain weedkiller chemical do you think I'd be safe Shifty Confused Wink

Yes, because the put flame retardant into it. You'll get a slightly damp, roman candle style fizzle at best. Unless you do other stuff to it first, which is frankly, a lot of effort and a good way to poison yourself.

Not that I'd know about that sort of thing. Whistle

I wonder if the policemen knew that iron oxide is just rust and felt a bit silly, or if they didnt have a clue and thought it was some rare hard to get exotic bomb making ingredient.

I know rust could be used in making bomby sort of stuff, but its not exactly hard to come by so response was a bit OTT i think.

Did they all have guns ?

I'm reminded of the time we had a bomb alert a few years back. Following that all the vehicles had to be issues with an identity sticker to be allowed to park on the property. I asked for one for the bike and was told by the health and safety guy that it wasn't needed as 'there isn't room for a bomb on a bike' Shocked

So here's me riding up on a big old tourer with big hard panniers, a 42 litre top box plus tank bag if required Rolling Eyes Plus, being a bike it can park really close to parts that cars can't. Then people like this wonder why terrorists only have to be lucky once Mad Naive doesn't start to cover it.

I've just bought a 1200kg bit of metal that can be used to kill someone.

Will I get arrested for buying a car? Confused

they sent 10 men out for some rust

if you think about it you will realise that rust isnt that hard to come by and so it was a waste of taxpayers money even if they are 'doing something'
