Where is the cheapest place for me to get a powerbook from?

I need one that is capable of running Pro - Tools but not alot else so basic spec is fine, but the cheaper the better.

I need it for my uni course next year so dont tell me that windows is better, becuase for studio work it is far to stroppy Razz

probably second hand off ebay would be cheapest or if you have stores like smack generator and crack converters you could try them.

hey rich, dunno if this will help you, but if you want to buy a new one (from what i understand, the intel duo-core macbooks have similar specs to the smaller g4Powerbooks), you can get them VAT free from the apple.com/uk store if you access it from your uni's network - saves about £150 on the real price, and you also get the RAM/hdd upgrades at vat free prices too (so the RAM isnt such a ripoff!!). I will most prob be purchasing a MacBook in the next few weeks, and my flatmate got a G4 iBook last year with no problem whatsoever.

Hope this helps, Stu

You can pick up old G4 iBooks (like mine) for a good price now, especially since the PPC architecture has been fazed out in favour of x86.

My iBook cost me £650. Not expensive for a laptop.
Besides which, I would rather use OSX/Linux than Windows.
I'm sick of having to filter through Spyware/Virii and having my programs all become corrupt.

I just bought a MacBook Pro. Fantastic machine, but not cheap.

You should take a look at the new MacBook's. As a student you'll get the basic model for £700 ish. And that's a brand new machine, with the Intel dual core processors, a lovely glossy screen, and the most recent version of OS X.

Can't go wrong. Thumbs Up
