Not really boring, I am going through the same thing, I have been very idle throughout the past, well 17 years so I'm taking up a martial art (Goshinkwai) which I started tonight and I'm going to get more proactive.

Not many places to go running round here, usually running away from burburry clad charvers with knifes and sticks. Rolling Eyes

Congrats to you ! Thumbs Up

Am amazed at my 10 yr old daughter..
she went karate training last night - 100 push-ups with 4 people weighing her back down Shocked

Damn. She is strong
She also did all her forms from basic through to Dan Grade in a row
No wonder she looked like she had been in a shower Exclamation

Well, not quite as impressive, but a big milestone for me!

I went on a tread mill for the first time since my crash, managed to stagger along for a mile! Sore as fook afterwards, but pretty proud of myself!

I'm in the middle of 3 weeks off work, and I'm using it to try and kickstart my fitness regime. I've got the advanced riot training later on this year that I missed because of my crash, so it'd be really cool if I can get fit and do that - I'd feel that my recovery was almost complete, if that makes any sense?! (we'll ignore the fact that it cost me a promotion and a job application that would mean promotion, money and a proper career!)

Never been one to enjoy running or fitness, but it can be satisfying!

Senior Detention Custody Officer.

In charge of a wing of 140 nasty illegal immigrants at an Immigration Removal Centre. Plus I get the Health Care section with all the crazy and sucidal ones! Yay for me!

I get to drink a lot of coffee though, which can't be bad if you get paid for it.

The only good thing has been that because of the way the centre is designed, you never have to run more than about 100 metres to get to any point, so my cack fitness since the accident hasn't been too much of a problem. Extra weight to put behind the shield on cell-entries too Wink

Edit: ref. the fitness and running, I swear that at least a couple of incidents have been defused by the expression on my face scaring the detainees - what they don't realise is that what they think is pure rage and steely determination is actually me having a minor heart attack from running up 2 flights of stairs with all my kit on!

Yeah mon!

We get a lot of long term cons, usually Jams, who incite all the easily-led non-cons, and then fade away so that they don't take the rap themselves - sneaky buggers!

We lost the whole centre two years ago, Tornado had to come and help us take it back!

Pfft, amateur, a walk up and down the beach and a shag on it at 3 o clock in the morning involves much more stamina! Wink

I've just started going to the gym after about three years of no exercise Shocked Just trying to be realistic - 3 or 4 times a week. I've cut out (most) crap from my diet and more importantly I've given up smoking.

I'm not getting any younger and have decided to sort my body out before it's too late Laughing

I've been thinking about going for a run soon, but only when the weather is really grim and dark and I feel like I need a boost. You do feel great afterwards.

By the way!! I've just realised it has been exactly 2 whole years since I stopped smoking! 7th September. Woohooo!!

What level do you have to get to?

Anyone of even reasonable fitness should be able to get to level 7-8 without any training or practise what-so-ever.

The trick is to pace yourself in the earlier levels, where you barely have to jog, so that you have some puff left later on when it gets a bit trickier!
