Yes folks I have done the impossible...

I broke my PS2 game controller, the proper sony one that came with it.

It all works except one thing. Unfortunately, it is the X button. I just don't believe it. You can't do ANYTHING on a PS2 without an X button.

I always thought those things were made of some wierd, reverse-engineered high tech polymer recovered from the black box of a crashed spacship that is totally indestructable. The same stuff they make toy plastic dolls that can survive plane crashes out of.

I think this achievement ranks alongside my being the only person in Europe ever to have blown the XTZ660 engine fitted to MZ supermotos within the warranty period. (they sent that one back to the factory in Germany for the chief engineer strip and bench rebuild
to find out what the hell happened).

Don't be silly, they're japanese technology...

They always break... ( and when things go right for the japanese electronics market it's usually within a couple of hours of the 1/3 year warrenty expiring...).

Recently I've had a loose connection so that if it vibrates the game pauses and I get "please reconnect controller".

They are pretty bulletproof though, that pad has taken years of abuse.

hi
my ps2 controllers last for years, the cheap aftermarket ones break within a year, the sony ones are still there with all the markings visible, u notice that the with the cheap ones the markings rub off in a few months,

quality.

When you place a dual shock 2 in your hands, you ARE the game, and when it vibrates, the whole world around you shakes into a stunned silence, and you are terrified to your very soul.

Now which cunt is going to spot what i did there, and post that cunting owl. Eh?

Apologies, it is late, I have had a smoke and am finding this hilarious.

I just 'love' (note sarcastic) the games with variable X pressure. Such as moto gp etc. Where you dont feel you are going anywhere unless your thumbs gone white you are pressing X so damn hard.

Then you go round a mates, and X barely works...

Oh fun.

I used to make the controller make creaking sounds because I pressed the buttons so hard Laughing .

Whoa, nice one Stinky.

Sony controllers are notoriously strong, even after many hours of square and circle bashing on international Track and Field, my controllers still live to tell a tale.

Now Sega Mega Drive controllers, I found don't last that long, on all of mine the A button has gone pop.

The L2 button gets stuck in on mine, wierd considering it must be the least used........although it might have taken a direct hit after I've punched the bastard accross the room into a radiator.

You have a very good point though. They are very solid things and I am impressed how the analogue buttons can last. I would think they'd be quite delicate and not really in sony's interest to make them last.

Both my L2 and R2 get stuck onto the controller and are mostly knackered.

That's Gran Turismo's fault though, too much manual shifting.

Aye. It's amazing how the things can cope with being repeatedly thrown across the room and stood on.

Anyone remember Daley Thompsons olympic challenge? Used the be able to get it for the ZX Spectrum. A game that was single handedly responsable for more knackered keyboards than any other game in history. You had to alternatley mash 'B' and 'N' as fast a humanly possible for about two minutes then press 'space' at exactly the right moment.

Trouble was, your hands and arms were starting to cramp through the effort of hitting the keys fast enough so when you hit 'space' it was often a LOT harder than you intended to. Cue keyboard flipping up in the air and hitting you in the face.

I did like the scene on Men in Black 2 where the car went into turbo mode. The steering wheel retracted and a PS2 controller (hyperspeed control interface) popped out.

I'll need to look out my long thin posidrive screwdriver and have a go at it.

Yep, me too!!!

My mate had it for the Commodore 64.

But on that you had to "Wiggle" the joystick from side to side.

Broke many a joystick doing that too. Then one of the hardware companies brought out the Competition Pro joystick, which had a metal shaft and solved the problem. Wink

Twas a cold and heartless night......

But tempers were flaring like the furnace of hell.......

The tension in the air was at breaking point.......

Then I lost 4-3 on Pro Evo to firggin Japan ffs......

That was it.....

Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

I mounted my trusty steed (the lounge table), withrew my trusty morning star (ripped the ps2 controller out the socket), and wailed in anger whilst striking the earth with my weapon of destruction......

worst of all was my mate told me to calm down and if I wasn't careful I might break the controller......... Evil or Very Mad

SO I went outside on to the drive and swung it into the wall as hard as I could obliterating it......

Don't play pro evo any more....
