Well i'm enjoying my new baby, done 200 odd miles since i had her and its great Mr. Green

Only problem is my wrists and lower arms are hurting so much i can hardly move them!

Is it my position possibly? Anything i can do to make riding easier on my wrists?

Not really, you bought an R6. Laughing

There are a couple of things you can do. Sit up a bit more, the wind blast on your chest will take some pressure off your wrists.

Buy a Powerball to increase your wrist strength. Men don't have a problem with it, for some reason. Wink

If things get really bad, you can buy a bar riser to push them up a bit, so you're not so hunched over.

Go faster so the windblast pushes against your body and takes weight off your wrists.

Failing that your wrists will just get used to it Thumbs Up

Give more handjobs, strengthen your wrists up.

Its mutually beneficial to you and your partner. Thumbs Up

For best control, your fire-arms should be parrallel with the road, bars held lightly.
This means your wrists shouldn't be taking the strain - your back should.

Basically, it's an R6, a focused race bike. I like them on the track, but wouldn't have one for day to day road use because I don't like the position.

You may get used to it to some degree. Or you could look at some higher clipons or similar.

I believe one company was selling some that can be adjusted on the fly pretty much, so you can still have a sensible thrashing position as well.
Personally, don't think I really like the idea of them, though.

phew, thought ud come off then

to stop it hurting, sit back in the seat and lie on the tank while riding so you arent supporting your weight with your wrists

forearms should be parallel to the floor

or sell the r6 Smile

to be honest, if you just ride more your muscles will adapt and you wont get it so much, but a good riding posture will help

just takes time.

didnt realise it was an r6 you had...good fun arent they?

its kind of an aggresive riding position so weight is on wrists etc due to head down.

few hundred miles more and you wont notice Wink

Laughing

Always get sense out of you lot Wink

Today ive been pretty much lying on the tank with my bum pushed back towards the pillion seat, elbows bent and fore arms paralell with the road, thought this would make it easier on my wrists but it didn't.

Looks like i'm not going quick enough then Wink

Don't really like the idea of clip ons, i quite like the riding position (head down arse in the air Laughing )

Oh and traded my other half in for the r6, looks like i may need a bf to help with the wrist strengthening Razz

Just going to have to get used to it arent i?! Twisted Evil

I don't think i've once got down on my R6, i usually sit up straight because i had a dubble bubble.

Try to make sure your arms are relaxed - weight shouldn't be going through your wrists.

If it is, it slows steering down massively and can make tank slappers and the like worse.

If you take your hands off the bars, does your body stay in position? It should.

Maybe start doing some sit-ups to strengthen appropriately (won't be as easy a way to find a bf though Wink ).

grip the bike with your knees and use your back muscles to support your weight not your arms

of course if you had test ridden a few bikes b4 deciding you wanted an r6 you might have chosen something else, but you will get used to it eventually if you ride enough

you can literally lie on the tank so your weight is on the tank and you arent even using back muscles to support yourself

I've ridden an R6 a fair bit road and track and still don't like them on the road.

The problem for me is that there is quite a short reach to the bars - while the rs250, say, had a longer reach, so despite a more hunched position, my body was a bit more stretched out.

No, not everywhere, but a lot of the time i do. When i need to slow down i sit up a bit, and when i may have to stop i have to sit forward to the tank so i can get my tippy toes back on the floor! (for this reason i try not to stop much Laughing )

This may be the problem, it was only my second time out and i was a little tense so i'll have to try to realx more

Yeah, that's my last resort - don't want to be moaned at for being out on the bike and i can't really explain he's only there to sort out my wrist so i can ride better now can i ? Laughing

Yep did that today too, didnt help but i liked it!

The reason i wanted a quick fix is because im out all day on Sunday, will probably do a good 300 miles, which isn't good if i can't feel my wrists!

yeah id agree but she has the r6 now so she better get used to it Smile

anyone else reading this thread and thinking of getting a bike shd think of getting test rides first Smile

a 98 r1 is definitely more comfortable as its got a long reach and so is like lieing on a plank face down, great when not in town, but not so good for sitting up in town

Try rotating you wrists slightly and finding a different position. I found when first doing light weight's for training that altering the positions of my wrists on the bar's made a great difference.

I then applied this to riding and found it alot more comfortable, keeping my wrist's and foreams straight with a greater bend in my elbows helped me.

the best way to change your posture when riding is to ride with an orange gripped under each armpit,
you'll soon forget about your wrists

no dont im only messing about Laughing

When i got my ZX6 a few months back i think i posted a similar question lol

Basically, you dont want to be putting any weight on your wrists, which means holding yourself upright using the pressure of your knees on the side of the tank, it feels unnatural at first, and to be honest after half an hour you`ll probably be putting the weight back on your wrists, but you will go longer before the pain kicks in.

My right hand goes completely numb after about 45 minutes of riding, BUT it used to be after 10 minutes, so its improving!
