tattoo websites?

Hi i want a new tattoo and im not sure what one i want,im after a tribal style one,does anyone know of and good free sites that let me dl the image etc so i can just take it to the tattoo shop etc etc..

I agree with Lewis... You're an individual, why would you want something on your body that 10-15 hundred other people have probably chosen out of a book?

You are going to be stuck with a completely random, meaningless 'scar' on your body until the day you die!

Think about it carefully, get someone who can sketch to knock up a few ideas for you (unless you're able to do this yourself) make a list of things that you definitely want/do not want and talk to your tattooist... The majority of people who go into the business of tattooing people for a living are artists, they don't actually like the idea of everyone getting the same things done over and over.
They should take pride in their own work and most of all they should really care that you are getting exactly what YOU want.

Any tattooist who just chucks a book at you and says 'pick one' should be avoided at all costs as far as I'm concerned.

EDIT: The one across my shoulders is nothing at all like I imagined I wanted! Although I am completely happy with it!
I told my tattooist that I wanted my kids names, But didnt want this, that and the other... He finally got back to me 2 weeks later and handed me 5 designs, all completely different! Wink

All at the bargain price of £75.00 too!

A tribal tattoo. From a book. Would you like a pair of reebok classics and a tracksuit to go with that?

As others have said here, don't choose a design off a website or out of a book. Design it yourself, or get someone else to, like the tattooist at the tattoo shop.

You'll still be stuck with a tribal tattoo if you go that route though, and it'll look a bit like every other tribal tattoo on the planet.

when i got the flames on my arm done the artist drew them on with a hospital marker first, checked i was happy with the general layout then free handed over the top, i think they are unique!

I've been wondering.... All these tribal tattoo's.... originally, the patterns had a meaning, some sort of cultural heritage to the (I think) south american indians, maori's, and the polynesians... Do the bodies attached to these designs know, or even care where they originate from?
I know that the majority of people will say that they have them because it gives them a certain look, (think vin diesel) but have they actually thought past the arching curves of black ink that they are choosing to wear on they're arms, legs, etc for the rest of their existance?

I suppose the same can be said for celtic designs too, These are not only supposed to be beautiful in their own right, most have a religious significance! (original designs at least)

How come so few people go for african artwork? I would have thought that seeing as though a lot of african work is centred around mystical protection of the wearer it would have been more popular! Even Egyptian royalty have been discovered to have tattoos (who thought it was just for bad boys/girls then? Laughing

)

Nowadays, most tattoo designs have been morphed into purely ornamental, permanent jewellery.
Although it provides an unspoken link to our ancestors, who have been tattooing they're bodies for centuries and centuries using various methods, (think sharp pointy stick or cutting then rubbing ash in the wounds) You can use ink to express your personal philosophy, your heritage, or even just to say 'Hey, this is me!'
