Quick question. Lids and planes.

I'm going to California in late october to get married, but while I'm there, I was planning on renting from these while I'm there. Can't say I much fancy using some sweaty old lid that everyone else has had on though, so I wanted to take my own. Will the changes in pressure affect the structure of /materials in the lid in any way?

Anyone?

doubt it to be honest. they are probably shipped air freight from manufacturers to suppliers.

The more likely issue is security, even more so now. You don't want to check it in with your luggage, they toss those bags around like they were beachballs so it'll almost certainly get bashed.
So the only option is to carry it on as hand luggage.... when I went over to the states they gave me loads of hassle, apparently I could use it as a weapon etc, but I eventually convinced them to let me take it. There's almost no chance they'll let you on with it now.

I've just got back from Belgium, and they're only letting you take out one piece of hand luggage, and it MUST be no bigger than a small laptop bag - and the same dimensions too.

I'd give your airport a ring and see if it's possible to take a helmet as hand luggage.

You won't be able to take in onboard as hand luggage now so it will have to go in the hold.

Wrap it in bubble wrap to protect it. DO NOT place anything inside it. I know the space inside could be used to stuff extra socks but it would look too dodgy on the X-rays and more likely than not they will open the case to examine it. naturally they would remove the bubble wrap... then not replace the wrapping after Rolling Eyes
