Windows XP running RAID 0 - Think you'd call it hardwear based. Had to set it up before installing windows. - with twin SATA drives.

Wanted some extra space so i bought a IDE drive. Connect it all up and it's recognised by device manager. However, it wont show up in my computer.

I know it needs the jumpers changing and all that, but what the hell do i set them to? Slave and master don't make any difference.

Or do i need to fiddle with the bios?

Na, if it shows in device manager you should be able to leave the jumpers, click control panel, administrative tools, computer management, disk management and format the new drive ( may have to initate it aswell.).

If you don't know which is the second disk get me screen prints Smile

Have you formatted the drive yet? It wont show in "my computer" if you haven't. I'm guessing it is showing in the bios though.

In win 2003 you format it from the computer management programme in admin tools. It was the same in 2kpro. I'm not sure where it would be in XP as I don't use that OS.

Win xp is just a pretty version of windows 2k with more device support e.t.c... not many differences, computer management still exists Smile.
