SCAM - BEWARE
>
The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam.
A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel
Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and
that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number).

DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize. If
you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will
already have been billed £15 for the phone call. If you do receive a card
with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 0207 239 6655
or ICSTIS the premium rate service regulator at www.icstis.org.uk or yourlocal trading office.

Trading Standards need a kick up the arse then; the tel. number was disabled around two years ago:

https://www.snopes.com/fraud/telephone/pds.asp

However, it's likely that the scam (or another variation of it) will surface again sooner or later, so if you want to check a number before you call it, use the Icstis premium number check page:

More bullshit! The most you can ever be charged for a call is £1.50/min. It is an imposibilty on the UK's phone networks to be charged £15 for starting to listen to a message.

People make these scams up to panic people, why do so many believe them?

Old Thread Alert!

The last post was made 19 years, 150 days ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful?
