Right.
I have been searching the internet for weeks now trying to find the cheapest flights from Birmingham to Glasgow. The cheapest one I find is with FlyBe and all the 'cheap flight' websites say it will cost £40 return, yet when I go to book it they stick shit loads of tax and charges on so the price is nearer £80?
Why are they telling people it will cost £40 to fly when it's nowhere near that?
I mean yeah that's the amount it is to FLY but they won't let you FLY if you don't pay the tax and charges so telling you how much it is to fly is a lie when it's so much more than that.
Can anyone shed any light on this? Am I gonna have to pay £80 odd to get up there? That seems well expensive for a one-hour flight.
Hope you can help!

Basically, they are all taxes, APD ( Air Passenger Duty ) ASL ( Airport Security Levy) sometimes you get TOD charges ( Ticket on Departure charges)
You will NOT ever get flights to anywhere for daft prices like £40, and they go up and down every hour.
If you book it through a Travel call centre, and i shouldnt really tell you, but you may see the price for say £120 on a website, and then we'll qoute you 140 or so, for our commission.
Also try www.skyscanner.net it searches all the low cost airlines for the cheapest price. ____________________ JACK, MISS YOU LOADS YOU LEGEND. |

Why don't you just ride? , Falmouth to Manchester is 360 miles (of which 60 is non motorway,
took me 6 hours first time as I missed a turn and went down country roads , 2nd time I knew
where the cameras were and it took me 5 hours , 3rd time I hooked up a dodgy as fuck
extra tank in my tank bag (which was just using a Y junction on the tube below me fuel tap)
and managed it in just over 4 hours, no need to stop for gas or to piss. I'd have been faster if there
were no road works.
think about it ,
Travel to airport = 1 hour
check in + security = 1.5 hours
flight = 1 hour
landing and getting out to a taxi/train 30 minutes
getting to where you want in Glasgow 1 hour.
=5 hours potentially, my map says Brum to Glasgow = 292 miles
= 3.65 hours @ 80 , with one gas stop or maybe more to visit BCFers in mancs or whatever
and a quick toilet break , = 4 hours and you have the bonuses of:
>having personal transport at Glasgow (big plus)
>Bragging rights as many people think you can't do distance on bikes
>A rep as a mad bastard to the people who think its mad.
NTV in petrol cost me £23 in petrol + £5 tyre wear + 50p (mileage apportioned) in oil.
£1 for a quick bike wash as I did it in winter and was covered in salt
You can carry alot of luggage on the bike which does slightly affect your MPG.

note you may want to spend 20p on some ear plugs as well the motorway droning may just drive you nuts and make you go deaf. ____________________ Spain 2008France 2007Big one 2009 We all die. I fly to aberdeen from heathrow with ba for £40 one way or £60 return.
That is booking about 4-6 weeks in advance though.
I booked a train ticket from fleet to newcastle the night before i left last week and it cost £120. I did it a while before that and only cost £40 but i booked in advance. |

Thanks for the help.
The cheapest way I can get up there is by coach for just over £50 at short notice. The train there's just over £80 and all flight prices for that date I said are over £100 now so I'll have to book the flight now for the next time I go up there near the end of October and get the coach next week.
Thanks for suggesting the website aswell, it's well handy.
Man, I hope I don't get stuck to some fat smelly person like last time I got a coach.
Anyway, excellent. Cheers. ____________________ The tiger who came for a pint |
