Spraying

Going to respray my NSR.

Id love to do it in that Rage Illusion Blue Flip Paint. You know the one where the bike is blue as you look at it, then purple from the left, green from the right etc

What i want to know is, can i buy this paint in aerosol cans and spray it myself? Or is it aa bodyshop only job?

Ive done spraying before, but its a bugger to get that tough shiny finish you would need with flip paint to make it look different colours.

I was thinkin it wud be just a case of trying it on one part and see how it turns out.

The way i spray plastic bike panels is- sand to bare plastic, use three or 4 coats of plastic primer , thin layers sanding smooth between each coat and wash down the last layer and let it dry so its all smooth and neat,let the primer dry for half an hour for each layer or so. Then apply first layer of paint thinly , let it dry for half hour or so and just keep doing it , about 4 or 5 coats? then lacquer it a few times. You think id get the effect right?

or will it just look dull and crap and chip off?

oh bugger thats a shame.

my speedfight scooter was all colours i could imagine due to 8 mishaps. but i never had it a nice blue colour.

Im thinking of spraying it yamaha r1/r6 blue colour.

That would look nice.

Where can i buy paint online? Not just the yamaha blue paint but any paint in general.

halfords is a rip off, £5.99 for 500ml.

There must be somewhere online, i tried google and that but no look.

Aerosols are expencive, but try some of the other car type shops around ie autoparts or the like. These will sell aerosols as well.

The thing is you will never get a really good finish from an aerosol - there are too many variables that aren't taken into account when they mix the paint, temperature, moisture levels, what laquers will be used after etc.

Ring round a few spray shops and see how much they can paint the pannels for. if your just after a flat colour and you give them the panels off the bike they may do it cheep for you (I know my father does big pannels for about £20 or so when they are supplied to him off the bike etc)

But what ever you do, take your time and dont rush it.

it would be alright spraying it its just the wheels are that sickly pale green colour aswell.

Are they easy to paint? Id just get them done black. How much would it cost to powercoat them both or is it easier to spray?

i would imagine your wheels are already powdercoated as most wheels are, so you'd have to strip them yourself, or get them stripped and powdercoated by a proper shop.

Hi

Powder coating wheels will probably cost between £25 and £60 a wheel, after which you will need new wheel bearings.

Suspect Dream Machine will quote you around £750 for a respray
