Who listens to all the new age music, or still loves the old skool vibes, what made me think was listening to all my garage vinyls and mixtapes, drum n bass also seems better older, hip hop, rock, the lot.

Garage died, now we have this abhorrent toss we call grime.

It has a lot to do with the culture and the people who make the music.

It's all moved so fast, i can't hold on to the old stuff anymore.

My passion is Drum & Bass, but it's been overrun by kids and chavvy's now, the clubs are full of them and the tunes have changed to suit.
People can produce tunes in a week and have it released at such a level, most of them sound the same.

The old tunes bring back memories so that is a plus factor!

Indeedy. Every now and again I hear a new track I like, find out who it is and download it, only to find it's 1992 or something. I might "discover" current day music in about 15 years, at this rate.

Occasionally there is a good song produced in todays age, that Gorillaz track, Feel good Inc, i liked, the melody was brilliant.,

Hip hop/rap has gone to TOTAL shit, and the charts are quite purely a joke.

The best drum n bass track released recently that got anywhere near mainstream was Pendulum ft Dj Fresh, Spider and Tenor Fly - Tarantula.

Used to love Dillinja - Twist Em Out but that wore thin, nothing much to speak of since older days, a few ok tracks on a couple of Dj hype tapes, but accellerated culture tapes and suchlike hold the key
Helter Skelter are staying firm in the right place, good label, recent releases were 1992-1998 Hardcore compilations, not bad.

Jungle and the "Junglist" was a good scene.

Garage was my favourite after hip hop back 5-12 years.

What is it with any brainless moron being able to come forth into the public eye riding on an endless wave of boring samey toss.

Like modern art, WTF? the word modern brings a shadow over my happiness in terms of culture, interests of the public, and music.

Dunno about anywhere else, but currently there's a shit load of old skool club nights and raves going on in London, and every sunday morning/afternoon on many pirate stations is given over to old skool house/hardcore/jungle.

I'm pretty sure that out there there's a lot of people old enough to have been there, or maybe like me that just kind of missed the boat but grew up on it, or even yoofs that just aint in to tear out D&B or grime that would like to see things back to how where they were.

Old skool was '88 - '93 for me, beyond that, the whole thing thing was in slow but steady decline.

If everyone's honest a key element that's missing from the club/rave scene these days is good E and the lack of knowledge/stigma that went with it back then.
The other element is the lack of adventure now, it's all a bit prosaic and organised, where's the M25 convoys? the secret locations? the feeling of being 'in the know'?
