I'm pretty skint at the moment, so going to have to make do with the public highway. Definitely up for doing another trackday though, preferably weekend to incur as little time off work as possible and not to far from London please Razz

Hmmm, the MCN circuit guide say the following about Castle Combe,-

Quote:
A lumpy ride combined with prodigious speed makes the Wiltshire circuit one of the most demanding in the UK, and no place to race an ill handleing machine. For good measure most of the corners feature some degree of negative camber.

Sounds a bit scarry...

How about Silverstone?

Funny, Combe is said to be one of the best "learning" tracks Confused

The guide says it has been resurfaced, but still 'undulates' quite a lot and is a very fast circuit.

Nah, there isn't really a proper straight in Combe, although it is quite technical. It's mainly right turns/bends, but there is one big left-hander and a couple of chicanes.

There's always novices on the track, but they don't seem to separate groups into novice/intermediate/advanced/etc, so it's up to the nutters (usually R1s) to look out for you before overtaking.

This is quite a useful site:

https://www.bmrc.co.uk/

Combe's only £90/95 through Fowlers.

>>For maximum safety and enjoyment, the number of riders on the circuit at any one time will be limited to ten enabling you to fully exploit the performance of your machine and concentrate on the correct line around Castle Combe's tricky corners.<<

10 people on track at once?

I presume there aren't many people on the day alltogether?

Anyway... not an option for me and quite a lot of others due to the 'road legal' aspect.

There's usually 5 or 6 groups on the day. As for the bike - don't you tend to rent a bike anyway? Surely they can lob on a standard can (or arrange something with the Combe scrutineer).

Either way they'll have full systems on, never mind the problems with the jetting being wrong, not many companies make road legal cans for full systems and very rarely do people actually buy them.

How uch track time do you get then Confused

All sounds a bit dodgy to me Smile

Each session is 15 minutes long, and number of sessions that you get will depend on how many crashes there are Razz

But from the pictures that I've seen, there are loads of bikes on the track at one time, whereas you get lots more room in Combe. As for the 5/6 groups bit, it all depends on the day.

As I say, the Combe circuit is quite technical, so you'll be knackered out from chucking your bike about anyway Smile

Providing you're going a similar speed to others in your group it isn't to much of a problem... ie I only really saw alex twice on the track at Lydden, because we were going fairly similar speeds I stayed an equivalent amount behind/in front of him and presumably other people that were going the same pace but at different positions on the track.

I did 8 20 minutes sessions at Lydden, which is quite a technical track, with short straights so not much time to rest. Didn't really have a problem with fatigue or anything.

sounds like you're not going to be getting much more than an hour and a quarter total track time Confused, maybe even less.

Stop being lazy and get your arse to a decent track Razz Very Happy
