And the coppers taking it in their usual light hearted way. Don't want to chase them because god forbid they should get hurt. After all, "they are just young lads out to enjoy themselves".

Turned over to watch Fred Dibnah from 8.30. Was pretty crap, a solid 15 mins watching 2 kids riding round the streets and the odd park was hardly captivating. Fred Dibnah on the other hand was spot on as usual Thumbs Up

They really did hammer home the "bikers" thing didnt they, silly really when, as everyone has said they were just chavs!

It did make me laugh with the kid lying on the ground waiting for the coppers and then jumping about a foot when he didnt realise they were behind him! gotta love chavs sometimes!

You lot make me PISS!

If the cops do noithing then we're lazy bastards, but when we do, we're picking on 'bikers'. Shocked

So what is the definition of a 'BIKER' ??
Would it not be someone on a BIKE??

Would a Chav in a stolen Corsa not still be the Car Driver?

There's so many people on here with a view yet nothing constructive to say......... Those moto X bikes belonged to somebody and the cops recovered them, is that not good enough?
Maybe the cops should stick a post on here 24 hrs before attending a job just to see what the public think they should do Rolling Eyes
If those scrotes had taken YOUR bike you'd be on here saying the cops are crap they do nothing.......but when you get stopped coz your riding like a arse you say the cops are hounding bikers..
GET A LIFE!

Oh, and please please please NO MORE PM's asking for help!!!!!!!

Yea, public impression is that they do nothing because they're out hounding 'legal' bikers who travel a few mph over the speed limit.

From the way I've seen thefts and violent crime treated vs speeding fines and road tax evasion, this does seem to be the case.

And sorry, but it seems you are tarring the forum with a brush, because some of them do the same to police?

I suspect if you saw a program that portrayed a few corrupt cops as being representative of the police force, you also wouldn't be too happy.

If someone ever told you that the majority of the population genuinely like police when they are /not/ trying to arse-lick them, then I'd suggest you 're-educate' said person.

Couldnt have said it better myself, totally agree with you on that one G, what could have been put accross more is that they are talking about under aged, un licensed, un insured and stolen bike riders. They didnt seem to mention anything about bikers in general and my parents when watching it were getting the impression that this view was being set for bikers in general.

However i do agree with what they were doing and was glad that they were taking action and getting these people arrested and charged.

I'm not tarring the forum with anything, i'm merely pointing out that some people on here are slagging the cops for targetting the off road bikes, many of which are stolen / used in crime.

THEN

People come on here saying the cops are shit, their bike got nicked and cops did nothing about it. You can't have it all ways.

I'm open to being judged, as long as its fairly and justified....
Some are bad at how they deal, openly i'll admitt to knowing this, but on the whole Traffic cops are pertol heads and well into bikes / cars.......beat bobbies in vans are not.
You'll get a better deal with a Traffic cop if you don't start ranting.
Anyway, i don't wanna talk shop now, i'm bored of it, i'll change peoples minds, its like pissing against the wind.

ive never been hounded by cops for anything but i can sure as hell give a rant about the lack of use cops are when it comes to stolen bikes.

mines was stolen recentley and i gave them every bit of info they could need including where the bike would have been taken in order to hotwire it, where it was likely to be ridden and even gave them pics of it.

were they helpful? anything but...they phoned me two weeks later to ask if I had heard anything??? WTF Exclamation Exclamation

i even went to the the place i told them about the day after and low and behold theres all the wiring from my bike scattered about the ground.

>justified rant over<

I got the impression that people were objecting to the use of the term "bikers" throughout the documentary when they should have been referring to bike thieves/illegal riders/crims.

Sherrif John Q Hairspray would never say such a thing when referring to DESPERATE CRIMINALS WHO THINK THEY'RE ABOVE THE LAW!, would he?

Didn't see anyone say that, infact one person seemed to criticise them not chasing, the rest were complaining about the suggestion that the people pictured were related to the 'average' biker.

Fair doos 'G', i may have read the post wrong but , HEY, i'm only human.

At least i'll admit when i may / have got things wrong Mr. Green

The cops are not allowed to pursue motorcycles at the best of times, if its found that the rider IS under the legal age then the pursuit WILL stop!

The rules came in force because a few poor child theives were hurt being chased on someone elses bikes and the Human Rights Act forced an IPCA investigation...... the cops now, quite rightly, say 'Sod that, we're not chasing if everytime someone gets hurt there's gonna be a major investigation'.

Air support officers are worth every penny they cost the tax payer, you only see a fraction of their role on TV. Cool

Could you define why you consider bike theives to be "poor"? Not trying to argue, just that this is the first opinion like this ive seen for awhile!

The fact they are kids really signifies very little! A theif is a theif, no matter what their age! Just because some idiot stacks it being chased by the law doesnt mean they should be a case for pity!

As, G so rightly said i dont think people on hear are in any way complaining about the laws use of resources or chasing the bikes BUT THE BBC'S EDITING SKILLS!!!!!!

They could of quite easily replaced the word "biker" with "theif" without any loss of viewing pleasure or continuity!

I suspect he was using it in the colloquial-sarcastic sense of 'aww, you poor darling', rather than suggesting specificaly that the bike thieves are lacking in money.

Ie, this is the sort of thing that tabloid papers have targetted in the past "Police cause horrific injuries to young children in brutal chase" or whatever. Sadly society is very fickly and will give pity to all sorts of rather odd causes.

I parsonly thought that the BBC were editing it to make the police seem a little, whimpy.
It made my laugh when the pilot had lost his helmet. Laughing

Oh and did you see the way that they were testing if the helmets were ok. You don't see "bikers" standing on their lids to check if there broken, youd just break more helmets.

I reported one of these chavs up and down our street to the police the operator could hear the bike while i was on the phone for a good ten minuites, the police did not bother turning up. If the police want to catch these chavs the first thing they need to do is turn up lack of resources is not good enough, its poor use of resources thats to blame. There will have been officers within a few minuites travel time doing outher things like taking statements, doing paperwork, traveling to victims houses etc all things that could be delayed a few minuites to catch the criminal red handed if they want to.
