£20/h you say , thats funny I just finished about 5 accounts of people who teach last week, they don't make much , and if it took him 12 years to learn and you only get £20/h its not worth it,

My bosses took 10 years to qualify and make 500K which is about 250/h

It's good money if you're a skint student especially if you are teaching privately cash in hand and not paying tax.

Once you are a qualified instrumental teacher rates raise to around £25 per hour, and for someone with several years experience the rate is closer to £30 per hour.

Ok, so I have been learning to play for 16 years, but I've not been solely concetrating on playing the violin. Besides, playing a musical instrument makes you more intelligent Razz

Sid Barrett?

Bloody did - he was a genius, he had an unfortunate reaction to having his drink spiked which sent him loopy.

Basically I have been learning the violin for roughly 12 years, now approaching the grade seven exam. The problem is that I am beginning to lose interest, practise seems more like a chore rather than a normal activity or something I normally do in the evening.

I was in the same position with the violin.

Someone's probably said this already, but join the library and take out 10 books of popular violin music and irish jigs - it'll work wonders and get you back into it.
