Hi, I know it was a few months ago now but did any one go to it this year. Got any decent photos from the day?

The Osprey made it for me, was the first time it had be shown outside the US.

I went, it was my first time even though we live on the doorstep. It was great actually, I thought the Osprey was impressive and loved all the flying teams, red arrows etc.

And with that appalling traffic, what a great time to be on the bike heh! Wink

yeah, it was good Thumbs Up no piccies for some reason ... the Osprey and the short take off and landing Hercules, barely 100ft in front of me were the highlights ...

chuffing 3hour queue to get in and a 2hour queue to get out again ...

going to be an annual visit Thumbs Up

Yeah deffiantly was amazing. Only live 15miles away so deffiantly an anual visit. We only had a 1 hour queue to get in and 30minutes to get out. Harrier crashed on the way to the event in the middle of a main road Shocked

If you want any particular pics of certain plances let me know as I took near 200 that day.

Thumbs Up

Wicked.

Do you know what would be good? ... a website which tell you all of the main attractions going on accross the country. I would have loved to go to that but knew nothing about it!

Cool looking birds, but the Osprey had significant teething troubles, I believe it's killed around 30 people in its testing phase - although none for the last few years.

Yeah I could imagine, Its so chunky, doesnt look like it should be able to get off the ground. The blades are so thick. Cool watching it hover infront of the stands though, then changing in to aeroplane mode.

Didn't get any photos but went along on the saturday and it was a great day out. Hadn't been to an airshow for a few years and this one was well worth the entrance fee; it's reckoned to be one of the largest militaty airshows in the world.

I'd have to say my favourite display was the MIG29; that latest variant is nothing short of amazing. Also impressed by the JAS 39 Gripen. Hadn't seen the Eurofighter before; enjoyed the display but not as much as the aforementioned aircraft.

I'll definately be taking myself along to more of these next year; here's a link to what's going on in 2007 https://www.deltaweb.co.uk/asgcal/index.htm

The last time I went to RIAT at Fairford was 2002, the traffic queue was horrendous, the queue to get in was even worse because of security checks whereby thousands of people were funnelled through 1 or 2 checkpoints.

Despite the stringent security checks you could buy immitation firearms at some of the trade stools which made a mockery of the whole thing.

To add insult to injury the G222 transport plane's front wheel buckled on impact and disrupted the flying schedule. The security around the F117 Nighthawk (Stealth Fighter) was beyond belief.

Big money entrance fee plus travelling has put me off. Having said that the flying is amazing though.

The osprey was great as was the MiG and i thought the B2 was pretty darn good too! Was nice to see a load of randoms as usal!

It was nice, in the evening we met the B52 crew at the local pub, those yank pilots are very funny and a right bunch of pot heads, not something i would of expected from americas "elite". Actually a really nice bunch of guys tho, changed the way i think about most yanks!

Its definatly a fast jet show, if you like your turbines its the show for you, if you want blundering old WW2 planes dont bother (plus the crowds might hinder the zimmer frame)

Did any of you go into the south east models tent? it was opposite the KC133 tanker (fuckoff big us refueling plane)...

well that was me Smile come and say hello next year if your about! Its always nice to meet bikers rather than geeky modelling aero spotters! We will be giving away two tickets in a comp on our site too:-) (sorry free plug)

CU Queen- google "airshow calender" theres loads of them!
