Bad vibes?

Not through the bars but through the footpegs? , I can quite happily sit on my naked bike and eat the
windblast for hours at a time @ 90mph thats what neck muscles and big collars are for on shirts.

What I can't do is take the vibes through the foot pegs any solutions on how to reduce the vibes? ,
gaffa tape some cubes of steel to the bottom? , replace the very well worn rubber bits me feet go on?.

The ride home from Thirsk was pretty quick and would have been faster had it not been for the vibes
getting worse as I got faster I get off and it feels like I've recovered from pins and needles in the bottom
of my feet and I can feel footsteps for a few seconds after for a couple of hours.

I don't really feel it on commutes as my commute is pretty short (14 miles) and I don't tend to go faster
than 40mph plus my mind is on the cars all around me.

I'm not sure if this has happened before my last long motorway trip being months ago.

any ideas?

Ta

Decent boots, check the carb balance.....

You can expect some vibes but if it's so bad that it bothers you there must be a problem, either that or you own a Harley which means you definately have a problem.

What sort of bike is it? maybe some big pegs off an old tourer or something.. big socks? new boots?

I'd defenatly agree with the carb balance/tappet check, amazeing the difference it makes..

Yes, sounds like a problem to me too. I'd be checking mounting bolts, front drive sprocket etc.

It might be some sort of harmonic effect in which case changing the mass of the pegs by adding weight might help.

do that, or bodge it, the rubber bits on my pegs are well worn and severely cracked and hence the vibrations went straight through me, but with a bit of tape, I nursed it together which works perfectly, see my pic:

ok, so not exactly the most innovative solution but it works.

Itchy, I get that to and it also annoys me Mad . I get it on a lot of bikes I've tried though from V-twins (my own SV) to IL4s (zx6, FZR600, blackbird) so have come to the conclusion it's not so much bike specific but just my anatomy.

It's one of those things that because you are concentrating on it, it gets worse. Try taking your feet off the pegs every now and then and let them dangle for a bit - give the blood chance to recirculate.

However what makes it worse on my bike is if the peg mounting bolts are coming loose or when the tyre is starting to get low. I've come to the conclusion that as the tread wears down the balance starts to alter and so with that vibration also increases. If your bike's tyres are ok though, check the weights are still in place. It might be worth taking the bike to a tyre place and paying them a £5 to re-check the balance.

Thanks for your replies ,

I think I'll scoot up to a breakers to see if I can get a set of better pegs meanwhile the gaffa tape on the peg will do fine,

extreme3d I got new tyres 5 days ago and they were balanced there and then ,
