Replacement NSR (2000) bulbs.

Ok, have searched the forum and established that I need a bayonet type bulb at a maximum rating of 35/35.

Took one of my bulbs to Halfords and found no equivilent. 2 questions:

1) Can I only get a like for like replacement from a bike shop?

2) Am I able to put a regular car type bulb in, ditch the holder and use the connectors straight to the bulb? Holding it in place shouldnt be too much a hurdle.

Any help appreciated.

the models at £6.99 (clear) and £7.99 are the best you can fit on your bike . they are 50% more powerfull and a longer lifespan

it certainly will work but how long ?
an other inconvenience : they are too much powerfull . the max power admissible in the foxeye headlights is 35/35W because the alternator has a limited power and running with these bulbs will kill the battery charging . i recommand to use halogen quartz bulbs in 35/35W 12 V Ba20d socket . the bulbs killers on a bike are vibrations , and the quartz halogen are much more resistant . i have those on my bike since 18 months now and they are OK

have you had any probems with heat transfer into the bulb holder? this is my only concern regarding the halogens. I would be inclined to have my lights on whenever im on the bike, for visibility reasons, so it would include the daytimes. I ont want to find that i can melt my holders and have to buy new ones.

Hi, I`m from Poland.

I`ve got a question.. Last week I changed my wirings for lights (i put a transmitter into the way from light switch to bulbs and put new wires with bigger diameter to liquidate a voltage fall [descent?]) and i`m wondering, will NSR lamp hang on a high temperature (about 200*C) emmited by 55/60W bulbs? in my opinion electric system should survive this.. but i`m worrying about lamp.. i tried to use a 55/60W and everything was all right except for bulbs immovables in lamp, but i can manage it. What do you think about this?

but will halogen quartz bulb improve seeing in night ? i`m worrying it won`t..

about 50% more brighter . otherwise you can fit HID if you want to spend £200 : 4 times brighter , bulb undestructable , cold bulbs .
