Got home (in the car) yesterday to find my bike on its side in the road with petrol oozing out of it. Immediately I assumed someone had reversed into it, but on closer inspection I found this:

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v404/angryjonny/buggrit.jpg

...some bastard's boot-print on the seat. Some fucker kicked it over. Angry isn't the word. What the hell makes a dickhead do something like that? What do they get out of it? Apart from an ass-kicking from me if I catch them.

wankers, it's pure jealousy mate, at least no real harm has been done,

a guy i know got his bike beaten with rocks and a bat, tank, lights, mirrors, all busted, seat slashed.

you could have gotten worse but as i say you just have to look at the good side and realise that you have something that they are too stupid to ever own or use.

get an alarm, it may deter/scare them away from doing it again or going further with any assault on the bike.

maybe cover it when you aren't using it so they cant see what's under it, sods law is it's a lovely bike and you just cleaned it, so it pisses them off even more, out of site, out of mind.

someon knocked my bike over outside a shop and they picked it up and left it there, bits missing and all, i was livid! had to cough up for the damage and i wasnt a happy bunny. Twisted Evil

I'd probably think about CCTV if I had to park my bike outside. Actually, I might think about it anyway...

I'd definitely have cctv if i had no option but to leave my bike outside. It'd have a damn loud alarm, too.

How much damage is there?

It's superficial - scrapes on the exhaust, footrests and bar-ends. Fortunately it's a naked bike so there are no pricey bits of fairing to replace. It also appears to have taken a chunk out of the road where the handlebars hit the ground.

We're forced to tolerate this sort of crap. If the asshole was caught he would only get 10 hours community service.

The punishment should fit the crime. He/she should be made to pay cash for the repairs AND £5 per hour for each and every hour the bike is not in original condition. So, if it takes a week to get the bike fixed, he should pay £840 as an appology to you. Then his name, photograph and full details of the crime, sentence and 'appology' payments paid to you should be printed on the front page of the local free rag for all to see, including his F*#k-wit associates.

A similar thing happened to me a few years ago. My bike was next to my front door, hidden behind a big fence. One evening, I heard some kids running past outside, didn't think any more of it until I went outside at around 10pm. They'd managed to push the bike - over - the side stand!! I found it lying on its left hand side with the stand still up! It was quite a cold evening which may explain why the alarm didn't go off! The one time I needed it to work it didn't! Evil or Very Mad
The managed to smash the top part of the fairing, but that was enough!!

It was things like this that led me to leave the UK. And I don't regret it!! I lost my wallet on Saturday night, and called the Police and was told it had been handed in with everything still there. Its restored a little faith in humanity for me!!

And it's things like this that make me want to leave this backwards country as soon as I can too.

I'm so sick of the law protecting the criminal's interests over the victims - the country is going down the shitter and the fat cats in government are too blind to see it because they all live in upper-class area's where Chavs don't exist.

Anyway, moving off topic.

OK, I'll admit that I'm new around here, but having read a few threads I'm seeing double standards...

It seems that smashing a wing mirror whilst filtering and escaping is OK, but someone kicking over a parked 'bike and escaping is not OK. Confused

I'm not saying that everyone is guilty of it, it's just what I'm seeing.

Sorry to hear you've been the victim of vandalism Angry, but as you say, at least it's a naked 'bike so not as costly as it might have been.

Buy the looks of that grab rail, t'is an ER5 you have there. So luckily its a twin. and IL4 could have seen some casing damage.

Whilst I agree that sometimes smacking someones wing mirror is inappropriate, at least both parties are present.

To come home and find you prid and job on it's side would leave me fuming to say the least.

I went out this morning & left my garage door open. Got home 5 hours later to find the bike sitting there with the key in the ignition & $40K+ in tools untouched..

Don't bother with Spain, though - the same thing happens here. I'd had my bike all of three days when some little bastard knocked it over in the (communal) garage below my flat. Broken clutch cable, sensor...
