I just fell for a bastard scam and put my Ebay username and password into a website which wasn't actually Ebay, despite having all the appearances of being so. Needless to say, I realised immediately and changed the passwords of both my ebay and paypal accounts.

Make sure you check the address of any link you click on in the bar at the bottom of the window.

I can't believe I was quite that stupid, but then I've had at least half a bottle of wine and been awake since 6am.. Embarassed

I had the same thing a few months ago...very realistic I however was a bit stupid and entered bank card number as well as username and password so my card had to be cancelled (although I did later find out that I had put the wrong password in by accident)

Not necessary as no legit company is ever going to send e-mails asking for you to urgently log in to your account by clicking their link. If in doubt about an email you receive, open a new browser window and go to ebay.co.uk (or whatever site it is) yourself. Don't click the link in the email at all.

Ebay will always send emails with (Dear 'username') The fake ones don't.

I get the fake emails that look like a buyer is asking a question & want you to click 'respond' Obvious if you don't sell much but if you sold alot everyday you probably wouldn't notice it was a fake.

Ebaying while half cut does you no favours either.

Ste has the better option of what I was talking about anyway. Navigate there without using links.

ebay will NEVER ask for your log in details in a email

so if it does, ITS FAKE!
